1997 Z3 M euro engine in an e36

Hello all, found a deal on a 97 Z3 M with solid engine85xxx km,need to swap it in an e36 316I,anybody done it before?basically how hard? I know I'm gonna need a driveshaft and a diff.i am mostly concerned about the elec stuff,thanks.

You'll need the E36 M3 engine harness; the Z3 harness will work but it does not fit nicely.

Cross reference the ETM diagrams for each car and make sure the pinouts in the X20 body connector are the same.. not sure what a 316 has.

Also need to relocate your battery to the trunk and retrofit the M3 cooling system.

Further, your brakes and suspension should most certainly be upgraded to handle the additional weight/power.
