Me, too! As an added bonus, the light bar had gone out, too, so I got to do both at once. It would have been heinous to replace the backlight only to have the light bar go out a few days later.
Had a spare lightbar sitting around, so I LED'd it and put that one in the OBC.
Anyway. Also removed the hardtop! The soft top isn't in as good a shape as I expected, but that's because I already have a few seams coming apart around the window. They won't get any better until I actually get them repaired, I suppose.
Also, resurrected the "What did you do to your E30 today?" thread from page 8. One-week bump!

Oil, filters, spark plugs...was going to be a full tune up and brake job today but I spent the last 2 hours d*cking around with the distributor. Tomorrow I'll figure out what I did to my car.
Dropped in a 95 M3 steering rack along with bilstein sports and tokico springs...have to roll the fenders now
put the Z3M shifter on the manual box thats waiting to go into the car. the throw between gears is soo short its gonna be rediculous
gonna have to bend the selector rod a little, dont like how far forward the Z3M shifter sits at present.
Purchased another one.
well yesterday ..
new oil pan gasket, new water pump, new 6 puck clutch, installed the transmission, motor mount arms and monday i can maybe start installing it all so i can get back into an e30.
I picked up a set of SSR Comp Type C 16x7" rims.
Now all i need is 4 spacers.

Currently being restored past its former glory
Fixed my loping idle. It helps to have all six spark plug wires connected lol. I planned to have to troubleshoot it for an hour or two instead it took 11 sec. and I got to watch the Rolex race at VIR
New starter, brake master cylinder, fuel filter, spark plugs and cleaned/oiled the air filter. Running SUPER well no. Cannot believe what a difference it made!!!!
fixed the trunk lock. the little clip that connects the lock accuator to the trunk lock itself fell off. i reconnected it and can now lock/unlock my doors from the trunk.
Coupe: Fabric sprayed rear deck black, resprayed red tails, touched up weaves with Wurth paint, resprayed spoiler with Plasti dip spray...not bad stuff.
Cabrio: A rare find at my local PNP...a gray market 325i. I pulled most everyhing worth somthing like the euro grills, front bumper, valance w/ fogs, euro check panel, euro fog switch, analog clock, and a extra trunk light...$100! The bumpers are for a buddy of mine but the euro grills were resprayed as well as the kidneys and rings with trim paint and installed. I will never find another gray market e30 again in the lot...especially with parts attached.

One is fast... the other is faster.
removed the trans to get rid of all the gunk from the bell housing then reinstalled it.
bought a full manual pedal box/pedal setup off ebay for £35. only 1 or 2 more peices and the swap begins!
Put a sweet BMW Motorsports /// decal on the windshield sunstrip. hehehe
Sold it.
I just got this car two weeks ago, I love it. Only 60k Miles and it's flawless.
325is coupe, with sunroof. This is my first post here, so here I go!
Dark grey with black leather and 5 speed.
Today I:
- Used a claybar and gave it two coats of wax.. made it super shiney
- Replaced my front and rear roundel badges with shiney new ones.
- Put in a new radio antenna seal.
- Replaced the one discolored hubcap.
- Installed some new bosch 4+ platnium plugs.
- Cut up some custom MSD wires and installed them.
- Cleaned up the cap and rotor.
- Replaced the Air Boot, Air Flow Meter to Throttle Housing Rubber with a new one.
- Replaced my battery with an optima red top.
( little did I know about the radio code security) I am the second owner of the car and, and I called the first owner who to find out he no longer has the radio code. my dash just flashes "code" at me now .... I fail. I have no idea how to retrieve it. From what I have read so far, I understand I am going to have to pull out the radio and get the serial number? Is there anything special I am going to have to do? So I don't mess something else up?
Thanks, Christopher
Welcome, and congratulations on finding a very low-mileage specimen. I'm sure you'll love it. Now that I've properly welcomed you, let me be the first to tell you that anything other than the recommended W8LCR is a complete waste of money, especially considering the recommended W8LCR's can be had at your local auto parts store for less than $2 each. Thread for reference. It's one of those amazing things about M20's that makes my 'vert a great daily driver: regular gas, regular oil, cheap maintenance!
Sometimes people write them down in the owner's manual, and of course if your manual packet contains the original radio booklet, it should have the code cards in there. Otherwise, you're stuck with going to the dealership to get the code. Sorry.

PS -- On topic: Drove around with the top down ALL DAMN DAY! And determined that the leak from my engine compartment was actually just an improperly torqued oil pan bolt, not a power steering resevoir or p/s hose problem.

To each his own my friend I have had nothing but fantastic experience with them.
- Fixed my stereo after pulling it out and retreiving the code
- Reset the ECU to be back in MPH, time/date.
- Learned how to set the security code!
The security code thing is pretty awesome, I really did not exspect an 89 to have such a cool technology.
