Where'd you have them coated and polished? Did you send them out or find someone local?[/QUOTE]

In NZ had them done here http://www.hpcoatings.co.nz/Home.aspx

    dude, secniv, those look awesome.

my son reported he has had an increase in gas mileage in his 86 325e since we put the 4.10 diff in versus the 2.93 that came stock. since he almost exclusively does in town driving (the highway is only 5 miles from our exit to the one in town) he said he now gets 220 per tank instead of 180ish. the 4.10 caused him to slow down to only 60 on the highway, which is good since he always was doing 80mph on the highway. so, this will improve his gas mileage and driving record, ha ha ha.
    No e30s again.

Finished putting new interior in this weekend. Got refurbished front sport seats, rear seats, rear trim panels and front door cards and handles from a guy on eBay. Was previously a cloth interior (Natural) that was quite shredded up after 26 years. Pretty pleased with the outcome. Now I have a bunch E30 cabrio interior pieces to sell, too.

From materials I've seen on youtube (and the owner's manual) I think the top should fold away without needing to walk around the vehicle and tuck the fabric in to clear the rear seats. Mine doesn't, but I can't see anything obviously wrong or missing.

I'm wondering if there's some cable or strap missing or incorrectly installed that would pull this bit to the rear and allow the top to stow in one motion?

You can see the folding really nicely in this video at around the 1 minute mark: https://youtu.be/dejwrEcvO1c?t=60

    Cheers
Well even my new top I have push the strap in the other side.

I have no idea what’s up with it. I thought it was just 80s vert shenanigans.

Mine does the same - have to tuck in the top on other side. But when I bought it in 1997, you didn't have to. I think it's the old straps that are causing the tuck in problem.

Wired my 1984 325e for daytime driving lights. The hardware came to $36 dollars, a five pin relay, a pigtail for the relay, and two inline fuse receptacles. I had the fuses, twist ties, and the 12 gauge and 16 gauge wire. Found switched power from an empty receptacle in the fuse box. Drilled an opening the the clear plastic lid on the box to tap into the power with a spade connector. Power for the lights comes directly from the battery cables coming into the drivers side fire wall (battery in the trunk). I used wire nuts to splice the wires. Get the switched power from the relay to the top wire (of three) going to the outer, low beam bulbs. Then run the power to the other low beam bulb with a wire run across the car in front of the radiator. Use zip ties to secure all wiring. Low beams will come on when the key is switched on. I used a 20 amp fuse from the fuse box to the relay and a 15 amp fuse from the relay to the lights.

just that motor swap in the 86 325. now it has a 2.5. all that is left is to do the suspension and I will be able to move on to the 87 325. I already fixed the horn and tail light issue on it so it will pass inspection 100% so it can be stickered and driven. after that, its time for all the fun stuff; suspension, exhaust, valances/spoilers, tint, etc.
    No e30s again.

I ended up finding a clean set of OEM U.S. Ellipsoids in the Los Angeles, CA area so I drove up for them. Then I bought some new "pigtails" for the wiring harness off of eBay. Just finished the installation and soldering of the wires tonight. Super satisfying and such and improvement all around. I filmed some of the process and put it on YouTube as an installation diy. I don't post much here, but I own what I believe to be a rare 91' 325i Sport Sedan in Laguna Green (most laguna green e30's convertible and some come in a coupe). I post my project process on the IG: @e30gumby
Here's the quick video I put together of what I was able to film:

Got my Turner Motorsports Performance Chip for my 1991 325i off eBay for a steal. Decided to bring my camera with me during the installation.

Ordered some "small" parts such as new front wheel bearing, transmission mount(s), engine mount(s), aux belts (a/c, p/s and alternator) along with new cap, rotor, coil, wires, filters etc.

I screwed up the driver's side front hub when i replaced the dampers and springs (it was not sitting straight) and one of the inner bearing cap(s) came loose.

Also stripped the stud on one of the transmission mounts, bentley manual indicated a high 42 nm torque spec on the lower nuts. They are M10 sized and one nut just stripped a mount, but they are Meyle brand, so ordered a new febi brand instead (a tad more expensive).

Since the cylinder head is 2,000 kms old (was installed in 2017) along with new rod bearings from the PO as a safety precaution, i will be doing a full service (fluids, belts and filters) as well as a tune up including new injector seals (and cleaning).

The timing belt is also 2,000 kms old installed in 2017 along with the water pump. Already replaced the fan clutch, will probably replace the t-stat since the invoices show it was last replaced in 2013.

The only thing worrying me is the head gasket, i am uncertain what brand was used and it maybe leaking oil (common front corner for oil return). I will replace the valve cover gasket (needs to come off anyways) and the rocker plugs when doing the valve clearance adjustment. I really hope it is one of those seals, i would hate to tear her up since after this i can finally start working on upgrading the seats, stereo (some cheap brand is in there), rust repair and paint repair.

My stock exhaust muffler on my 91' E30 was completely rotted out. So, today I installed the MagnaFlow Exhaust Muffler 14815. I recorded a little before & after video for anyone looking to compare look and sounds.

we finally got the parts to finish my son's I swap. we put the fuel injection on it, instead of the eta fuel injection. so much more power and fun, plus, no more hunting idle. the eta system is so sensitive to vacuum leaks

To date (had this car for 6 weeks), new brake pads, rotors, calipers, master cylinder, brake hoses, brake booster (finished today). New control arms and bushings, shocks, strut carts, trailing links front and rear, new tie rods. New intake hoses both front and rear of maf. Used about 5 cans of mink oil trying to resuscitate the seats. Previous owner butchered the stereo wiring and trying to fix. Ordering missing parts. Top in great shape but had to fix support struts on top door.

yea... i am looking forward to driving it. I babied it coming home (no brakes) and unknown on timing belt. Never changed one in my life. Got all the parts to do it now, but nervous about doing it.

Replaced the headgasket, it was Victor Reinz and leaking, checked the head, valves etc all good.

Did all the front engine seals since i do not trust the shop the PO took the car, new timing belt, tensioner, spring, pin water pump, thermostat , all belts, intake gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, all new ignition system (cap, rotor, coil etc). A couple of cooling hoses look swollen to me, maybe i will bite the bullet and replace all the hoses (€230 from BMW).

Also replaced all the engine sensors (both cooling temperature sensors, ICV etc). engine is bone dry (knock on wood) but a faulty TPS sensor is getting to me, new one is here just need to swap it out.

Stupid rear transmission output shaft is leaking, there is a new seal and i used curil K2 twice now and still leaking. Collar is free of groves and scratches, i shall be using loctite 270 since Curil is always "wet" and clearly oil is seeping past it when i removed it.

I installed the shifter bushing upgrade kit from ECS tuning. It was fun.
