Started installing some rear speakers with oe covers then thought well I’ve got rear seat out I may as well move the battery to the boot/trunk. Sourced an E36 cable from pick-a-part and thanks to e30zone instructions pretty straight forward.

No e30s again.
Replaced a trashed V-belt around the AC compressor on the 91. Since I don't have the power steering belt hooked up, got by with dropping only the passenger side of the splash guard for access. Used a flat bladed screwdriver to aid in prying the new belt over the idler pulley. If your idler pulley comes with a dust cap, not a bad idea to put that back on before raising and reattaching the splash guard.

Sold the convertible -- it'll be a project car for the new owner.

Walked past it, marveled at all the dust, then continued walking because I don't have time to put it all back together
On the 91, replaced the Optima redtop battery that had been in there for 15 years with another AGM battery. Cured a no-start condition by replacing the original vibration damper (11231721169) with a decent used part from eBay. The inner rubber on the old part had pulled out 1/4 inch and God only knows how many degrees off it might have been.

Swapped my e30 rack steering.. Try to get lighter handling on my car with swap with e36 rack. Rebuilt e36 rack with new seal. Replace balljoint front arm.

Installed a later 3-series negative battery cable (8 374 991) as it's just long enough to reach the replacement Group 34 AGM battery I purchased recently. Used a Rain-X windshield kit to minimize the appearance of a stone chip bullseye -- not perfect repair but much better than before.

Sanded down the trunk lid in preparation for painting. The silver paint on all horizontal surfaces of the car is shot, trunk being the worst. As usual I am trying to spruce the car up on the cheap using Duplicolor rattle can, "universal silver". That, and I just enjoy painting things.
I totally feel your bad paint pain. south texas paint is the same.
No e30s again.
What did I do the the e30 today....
Tapped on the solenoid a bit, tried to hear the fuel pump, tested a fuse, turned the key several times, and registered and posted to bimmerforum.com for the first and now second time.
yesterday the kids and I picked up another e30. this one is an 88 super E. it ran good for the 2.5 hour ride home from where we bought it. no problems other than little normal things that happen with age.
No e30s again.
Enjoyed a fall drive in Charlottesville!

Tripped a bunch of fuses and now everything but my Speedo works!!
Retrofit a washer fluid pump and connector from my E46 and tore down/fixed my seatbelt receiver. Stupid button was getting stuck down and the seatbelt wouldn't latch. Girlfriend wouldn't ride in the car anymore!
Documented the seatbelt bit if anyone else has the some problem: https://e30journey.blogspot.com/2018...epair-and.html

Looks great! Did the frame come with the fabric top installed, or did you have to do it yourself? I have an adjustment issue with the fabric that I haven't been able to solve yet (it folds funny) and wondering if you had some good references for the installation/fitting?

my son wanted to put a higher ratio diff in his 86 325e, because he felt it was to slow. a 91 318 showed up in the junkyard so he pulled the diff (and heated sport seats for me) and we put it in sunday morning. I warned him of the gas mileage change and how the rpms would be on the highway but he didn't care. now he loves how quick the car is. it smokes the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. he hopes it will help him at the autocross so I guess we will see
No e30s again.
Repaired and then flocked my dash. Came out really well given what it cost in time and materials to do the work.

I put on a custom German-style license plate to cover the unsightly gap in the trim on my front bumper!

And did a little writeup about it.

From materials I've seen on youtube (and the owner's manual) I think the top should fold away without needing to walk around the vehicle and tuck the fabric in to clear the rear seats. Mine doesn't, but I can't see anything obviously wrong or missing.
I'm wondering if there's some cable or strap missing or incorrectly installed that would pull this bit to the rear and allow the top to stow in one motion?

You can see the folding really nicely in this video at around the 1 minute mark: https://youtu.be/dejwrEcvO1c?t=60

Brought some secondhand Alpina headers for Bertyda30.
They were pretty rusty.
I had them coated with a high performance coating and a polished finished and installed them.
Had to remove the lower studs, using the double nut approach, on cylinders 4,5&6 to get them on.
The headers came with a 3” exhaust, central resonator and small back box. It was pretty rusty as well so I cleaned it up, neutralised the rust, primed and painted in high heat paint.
Still on the axle stands as I have a few suspension mods to do but I started it up.. sounds wicked. Pretty sure it will wake babies and scare dogs :o
