    looks real good.
I would have thought the spacers in pics 3-4 would go between the brace and the subframe

I did that initially and the brace was just too low so I raised up a bit by changing the spacer location. I'd have liked the rear raised up higher but can't do it.
    How's yours coming along?

Washed and used Armor All Wax Wipes on the 91, then bypassed the aux fan resistor so the aux fan runs again along with the AC.

Drove. Son and I took a drive through north Georgia mountains, spending the night in blue ridge, heading home tomorrow.

is there anything more satisfying than a good running e30 on twisty roads? Ours is a lowly eta car but dang, how pleasant it is to roll 50-65mph on mountain roads?

    New addition to family

Although a few days after the photo, watched my new E30 M52 swap get unloaded. Can't wait to get her registered and carve up some back-country roads.

Still waiting for Race Skids X-brace to come in. Hope it's soon; I'd like it for the 8/25 BMWCCA Car Control Clinic at Pacific Raceways.
Meanwhile, picked up this snazzy hat for "Oldest Cabriolet" at this weekend's Cabrios 'n Cake show...

I put the boot seal back on and took out the interior lights so I can replace them. Has anyone else noticed that for everything on the list of stuff to do that you cross off, another 3 items seem to appear? Maybe we should call it the E30 Constant

    How to turbo your car:
Step one. Install ecu and learn to tune and or have it tuned.
Step two. Install injectors and retune.
Step three. Install turbo parts and bits. get it running with out leaks. DO NOT DRIVE IT. Idling should be ok
    Step four. Retune car
    Step five enjoy

Car came from SC and suspension is a combination of Koni yellows and different rate springs front and rear. Last owner developed all of it for handling without harsh ride for street use.

'87 sounds like a nice drive. Any scenery pics starring the 325e?

Bairdogg sounds like less fun. Hope it comes together soon.

Camping trip didn't work out, so I put my free time to good use. Refreshed wife's seat belt and rear window seals (inner and outer).

One of my windshield nozzles wasn't spraying, upon closer inspection the little t-junction thingy under the hood that directs the water flow (absolutely no idea what its actual name is haha) was blocked. There was some silicon in some parts and it had a couple cracks so I feel like one of the previous owners must've done a crappy attempt at repairing it. I popped off the nozzles, painted them a nice new black and used some fuel line instead of the braided hose, all connected together using an irrigation part we had left over in the shed. Works like a charm.

Hi guys, first post. Picked up a beat-up '91 325i vert a week ago and just started tearing into it.

Pulled the strut assembly and LCA's yesterday; replacing struts, arms, bushings and brake rotors next weekend. Using stock or near-stock components now for an attempt at a factory ride.

After that it's head gasket, timing belt, water pump. It's leaking oil from the head gasket but no coolant; there's a Victor Reinz gasket on it now but I have no idea how long it's been on there.

Car has 165k miles on the odo, but of course it's busted. Best estimate is around 190k.

Welcome Cathedral! sounds like an auspicious start to the project. Any pics?

I've been restoring my '89 325i vert to factory-stock and am delighted with the ride. Shocks could likely use a refresh as well. Springs rarely go "tired" but if they do your shocks will not last long. Mine had its last shocks go out after just 20K, measured way low, and bottomed out on everything. PO had used it as a moving van a few too many times... I had springs replaced in addition to shocks: super expensive but fantastic to get the near-original handling refresh.

Took in the Peter Gleeson display at America's Car Museum in Tacoma, then headed over to Griot's Garage flagship store just a mile from the museum. Picked up an air foamer sudsing gun, will try it out today.

This is the only picture I have at the moment. Like I said, it's in rough shape. Seats are split, dash cracked, top needs work, paint was a respray and not very good; but it runs good and drives straight and my main goal is to turn it into an auto-x car so I'm not worried about how it looks.

Looks nice. Autocross in a vert seems a bit out of the ordinary. Putting in a cage?

Ride height suggests your stock springs are fine.

It is unusual, but it's worth pointing out that I wasn't searching for an auto-x car and bought this; instead, my boss offered this car for sale and I wanted a project car to track, so I took it. A cage might be in the future but for now I'm returning it to stock, with a strut tower brace and an x-member to stiffen it up, but I don't want to put too much money into it until I'm sure it will hold up. If it doesn't, I won't be too SOL for dumping money into it and could sell it for a parts car or weekend cruiser.

Finished yanking off the struts and LCA's. Reading up, everyone was talking about how hard it is to access the nut on the crossmember, raising up the engine etc... It was pretty easy just using a stubby wrench. Yeah, it's annoying only being able to turn the nut 1/16th of a turn at a time, but it works.

Got in several boxes of replacement parts from Pelican parts. Now I'm ready to start working on the head/timing belt/water pump and such.

It's nice pulling parts off the car and realizing that underneath all the dirth and grime and faded paint, it's in really solid condition.

Put new Trico wipers on the 91. Went with 20" driver side and stepped down to 19" passenger side as the 20" pax side was bumping into the other arm at the bottom when using the wipers.

If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...
