Washed the 91 318i to wind down after successfully changing the timing belt and water pump in my daughter's 95 Volvo 850.

Washed, clayed it, compounded twice, polished and two coats of wax. Did the same to the bottle caps.

made and spliced in a "new" speed sensor harness... original wiring is oxidized to nearly nothing.
Torqued down motor mounts, PS was loose.
Trying to isolate a buzzing noise around 2000 RPM, sounds like a metallic buzzing, cuts in at 2000RPM and stays at constant frequency and volume all the way to redline. Sometimes(rarely) it doesn't happen. Aftermarket motor mounts may be the trigger, but I want to find the source.
spent the day polishing a pink 318is until it was nice and red again. phase 2 tomorrow.
Put in a used M3 MTECH 1 steering wheel.
Figured out why my rear brake lights were not working- I mistakenly cut the CCM wires when I removed the amplifier after replacing the stock cassette player with an ipod/bluetooth stereo..
doh!

Put on my Irish License plate on the front, looks good, now I have an excuse to take a pic soon
Installed black leather shift and e-brake boots. Looks OK -- kind of blue with the flash.

Sold the old 3.73 lsd. Put an E28 cover plate and output flanges on it to make it appealing to the old 5er crowd.
Rolled over 199,000 miles. Will hit 200k by mid-March!
Parked next to a near carbon-copy of my car at the post office. He didn't have the hardtop (I would have freaked out if he did), and he was wearing 'weaves (I had my winter Elbrus wheels on), but it was the same color combination and probably even the same year. And he was missing the front lip, too!
When I walked in to check my mail, I scanned the twenty or so people who were there, picked the most likely candidate, and was right!

Mein anderes Auto ist auch deutsch.
over the weekend my e30 got a 2.9 liter m50, stainless braided brake lines, along with some other toys
ordered another 2 Euroweaves with 3 caps... just need a last euroweave waffle or full cap to complete the set.
got a deal on some billy sports off r3v.
Tightened my handbrake cables and evened out the slack on both sides, handle doesn't come up nearly as far now.
Tightened tie rod ball joints and other suspension bits that weren't as tight as they should've been. Definitely feels better to drive now.
Bled coolant.
Ordered some camber plates.
Doing rear bushings/diff mount in 2 weeks. Hopefully the shocks are here by then as well.
Replaced SI board batteries and re flowed SI board. Cleaned cluster.
Used some Klean Strip Aircraft Paint Remover to finally get rid of the cosmoline that has been baking in my engine bay for over 22 years, and it practically looks like NEW. I am ecstatic.

Sorry man, I don't have any pictures. But yes, with one or two stainless steel brushes, 5-7 terry towels, that aircraft paint remover and some patience; it should come off pretty easily. But just for a quick heads up: DO NOT spray this stuff onto your paint, because it will destroy it and the paint will come right off. I didn't get any on the paint, but it's just a warning so you don't make that mistake.Originally Posted by e30blitz
So this is how it's done: spray the paint remover onto the intake manifold and valve cover, but avoid hoses, wires, and paint. Let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes. Take one of your stainless steel brushes and scrub the affected area until the cosmoline comes off. Once you have scraped the cosmoline off, take one of your clean terry towels (it can be any towel as well) and wipe the area you have just scraped. This will pick up any leftover residue. Repeat the process until satisfied. And thats all there is to it! Hope this helps!Originally Posted by e30blitz

Installed the $5 clutch stop mod (makes it easier to shift faster) started scoping around for all the parts for installing cruise control, received two quotes for odometer repair and speedo calibration.
swapped out a very trashed, original houndstooth driver's seat for a nearly new Recaro Trend -- this is a temporary fix until I find some decent original e30 sport interior or fix my seatsr.
So, anyone willing to sell e30 sport interior in the DC area? I will then put up for my Recaro...
Just finished changing the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor. The 84' 325e is running like brand new.
Retrofitted a lock/unlock switch from a 95 ford explorer into my ebrake surround.
Ignore the nasty car.. practically live in it.
