did a bunch of stuff last couple wks and got no pics. lol.
got the intake, thermostat housing, and a bunch of little stuff like the covers, crossover pipe etc, hung on the engine. cleaned up the throttle body. cleaned up and blasted out the interior of the intake back to clean metal. gave it a paint. refreshed the intake, throttle body, and intake vacuum gaskets before install.
dropped the front sub, pulled the struts, lollipops, control arms, sway bar, and rack. got everything apart and gave it a good cleaning and quick couple coats of paint, got the sub and sway bar back in with new rubber, and re-installed the rack temporary - i have a z3 rack on the way. got a shop to pull the shocks from the struts and pop in new lollipop bushings. installed new billies in the struts. have new control arms waiting.
i got stalled on parts at that point. ordered up new front mounts, bearings / hubs, all new coolant and molded vacuum hoses, a garagistic steering coupler kit, tie rods, some other stuff plus the rack. i won't get the engine in as planned before the snow flies but at least i'll get the wheels on the ground.
I just bought my first E30, its a 86' 325e sedan, not the most desirable one but I love it. I drove it around town.
Replaced, blown intake manifold gasket that was giving me starting and idling issues. Replaced torn lollipop bushings along with worn motor mounts. Installed a new Kenwood headunit and replaced the over sized rear speakers the previous owner installed with the correct size. 88 Cabrio of course I forgot all the pics due to being excited to actually work on my car again.
For my 91' 325i Manual Sedan in Laguna Green. I finally got it out of the garage after over a year. Did a full refresh with new performance radiator, coolant hoses, fan clutch, thermostat, gaskets, intake manifold powdercoated in bronze, valve cover powdercoated in wrinkle black, new brake rotors, pads, and stainless steel lines, new guibo flex disk, new steering wheel, some new hardware for my shifter...man. It felt GREAT to get all this done finally. I'm enjoying the car again and can feel how much better she runs.I'll post some pics.

Rear wheel bearings and half shafts. OMG what a bear to get the hubs and bearings out!
I got a proper bearing puller from Harbor Freight (https://www.harborfreight.com/front-...ece-63728.html) and I really needed it. I actually needed a cheater bar on the driver's side bearing! The bearings were really stuck in there.
And the hubs were a pain too. I tried using a bearing separator as a backing plate with the lug nuts applying pressure to no avail. So I used the 30mm socket, a short extension, and an 8 lb. sledge hammer and beat it out from behind! (I guess a hub puller and a 10 lb slide hammer would have been easier, but I didn't what to go back to the store.) The hubs came out without the bearing races, so I did not need the bearing separator.
As expected, I no longer have whining rear wheel bearings!!!!!

I was about in tears under the car looking at how to take the trailing arms off! Thank God I didn't have too.
I recharged the a/c. The system was empty, so got out the vacuum pump and pulled a vacuum for an hour or so. Charged the system to 45psi on the low side. And low and behold, the high side also read 45psi! Oh damn! (And yes the compressor was turning.)
The a/c has been marginal for years and pretty much non-existent for a year or two.
Figure best to pull the compressor and take it in to the shop to have it checked out.
Update: The compressor clutch is toast.

Checked my valve lash.
5 valves measured 10 thousands
#3 Intake, #1, 2, 4, 6 Exhausts measured 9 thousands
#5 Intake and exhaust measured 11 thousands.
Good enough!

pulled the rear calipers for a rebuild and installed the inner steel braided brake lines above the rear subframe.
More like eight months ago, replaced the clutch and center support bearing. Today, ordered a new reverse switch as fuse 10 is starting to blow regularly. Perhaps the mechanic who did the clutch didn't quite get the reverse switch wiring routing correct.
