just came back from the mechanic who changed my stock spark plugs to ngk platinum. he also replaced the fuel filter(oem)
idle is alot better and smoother...btw..
after driving for half an hour, (normal driving except for a couple of "tests"), the check engine light came on. and its staying on.
anyone have any ideas what this could be?
car has 42k.
it has to be because of the sparkplugs/fuel fliter, but why?
is thier any special installation instructions for the spark plugs.
i was next to the guy the whole time, and everthing seemed fine.
thanks.

When he changed the fuel filter, the system might have been emptied so the first few seconds were VERY rough, ie air in the system. That would trigger a CEL (I know I did it myself) you'll need to find someone with a scan tool to confirm it...

Did you start the car with a plug wire off?
Are any of them loose?
I just did that last night - all it took was for the little clip to be slightly loose. Was not visible, I had to push on top of all the clips.

regarding fuel filter. he didnt depresurize the system or antying like that..he just shut the car off, put it on the lift and removed and replaced the fuel fliter. a little fuel did spill of course.....
the thing is that the light came on half an hour after the whole thing was done.
is that normal?
question:
if one of the sparkplugs were to be put in wrong will i notice a difference? will i feel that soemthing is wrong.
the car seems to run fine (maybe even smoother....because of the change)
im just worried that soemthing was put in the wrong way....
i seen him do everything and everything was tight.
he just dropped the spark plugs in thier and tightened it up.
is thier a way something is misfiring and the car still runs smooth?
is thier such a thing as the "wrong" way to put these spark plugs in.
thanks alot

no wrong way to put them in.
the iginition coil boots tear pretty easily.
check that the grounding strap on (i think) #6 has been reattached under the nut for the ignition coil.
and like someone else said re-seat the clips that attaches the wiring to the ignition coil and verify the connection is good.
if anything was wrong with the plugs you would (YMMV) feel it.
