Luke! What's up buddy, this is Justin. You might remember me.....I sold you the RVJ!
Ken did the work on the motor there, yes.
Looks like new wheels and grills. What else you done so far?

Aloha guys! Long time car guy, new to BMW ownership. Picked up a 2008 328i with Sport package that needed some love recently. Glad to be a part of the community and look forward to meeting up locally sometime!

Nice car Bryce. It was on Maui Craigslist for a long time. Did you buy it from there?

    Aloha,
I should formally introduce myself on the local forum. My name is Charlie, and I just picked up my first BMW in March.
It was a bit rough when I got it from the auction, but I love driving it.
I'm glad to have met a lot of the BMW enthusiasts, you all have been much help.

Hi Everyone! My name is Rich, have a 2012 F30 N20 slushbox and just moved to Oahu from Colorado for the second time.

Looking for a good independent shop, to help with a lowering spring install and service when the warranty expires. I see people seem to like these shops: German Auto Specialists, A&A and Motor Werkes. Is there a preferred shop among them?

Don't have a whole lot of time for GTG's and such, but hope to meet some of you in the future.

Awesome car! I think that one was on Oahu a few years ago? I took pictures when I saw it in Kailua once. Beautiful and amazing car!

They will all do right by you. It just depends which one is more convenient for you.

Cause if I go through the inspection, I know for a fact right now my car won't pass....

Tint is dark, car is low, HIDs on DJAuto headlights, HIDs on my fogs, no amber corners, car super loud, 18s on the car (semi tucking tires), and I definitely don't pass that "bounce" test I keep reading about, my suspension is pretty stiff. <---- this is just off the top of my head

On a separate note....any recommendations on where to live? I'll be stationed at Pearl Harbor, would like to find a nice place with a garage, very possible into buying a house, but if not i'll rent for the first year while scouting the area.

Thanks! Loving the E46 on your sig!
Did you end up bringing your M3 with you? Has it passed all the inspections and did you keep it registered in WA?

I'm moving there in September of '17. I have my turbo E36 M3, I would like to bring it but hesitant at the same time. Idk how Hawaii deals with FI cars and its lowered as well...Any suggestions are appreciated! TIA

Don't be hesitant to bring your M3. We have a big BMW community here and we all drive modified cars (boosted, swapped, static, bagged etc). There are ways to pass our state inspections.

Thanks for the info, knowing this will definitely make it easier to bring it. Now I need to look up the cost of it being shipped from CA.

You can run your out of state plates, but need to register it with the DMV. Then you have to put a blue sticker on your rear bumper signifying it is registered here. The sticker is about the size of a 3x5 index card. After your registration expires, you need to get Hawaii plates. We do require front plates and some cops can be strict about it.

Guess who's back in a BMW?! This guy. I truly miss my Hawaii BFC family. Looks like things have slowed down in the forums. I've been looking for a X1 35i in the right color for a while now and I finally found a 1 owner orange valencia one. So I took in the 07 Tacoma and 07 FJ Cruiser and left in my 2013 X1. I love it! Being in a BMW is where I belong.

Looking forward to visiting the the island in the future to show my daughter beautiful Oahu. I visited Jarod in San Diego in 2011 and truly regret not saying goodbye to a lot of my BFC family when I left Oahu in 2012. Deployments have taken its toll on this Army medic and it has taken me years to get back to feeling normal.
Reunited and it feels so good! Muahahaha!

Now there's a screen name from the past.. Glad to hear you're alive and well, old friend! (And hello all other old friends in here) Still no wives or daughters for me yet, but still own a couple BMWs living in LA.

On an unrelated note to a few posts back from 2015: I am in no way affiliated with Hawaii Vintage Workshop.

Wow! A couple of blasts from the past, John and Devin (hahaha, just kidding, Devon)!

John - It's good to see you back in a bimmer, too bad it has all that technology stuff, unlike the E30.

Dev - no wife or daughter. What about a son? lol

Bryan- it is well worth the wait. I wanted a 97 M3, but who can complain about a twin turbo grocery getter. It sure does have a ton of gadgets, which can cause a hassle down the road.

Devon- yeah, I'm alive. Deployments have destroyed me, but I am starting to get back to normal. If there is such a thing.
