95s52- what are your mods? I will probably be going up to sac raceway again soon to try to get a 13.5 1/4 pass with my f-ed up engine. We should set something up where we get a few forum members out to the track =)

Dave- put me in on the 13s list. All my info is in my sig.

Thanks Chase, know I will get it, its just a matter of doing it with the least possible mods. I'm excited about you getting an lsd in there. Those 60' will drop! What type of rubber are you running that you are no breaking 2nd? How is your clutch?

well im still chirping 2nd...just not spinning for half a second anymore. Still on the same old federal 595's I bought used years ago. One side is at about 30% and the other side is about 60% because of the peg leg 1-2 shifts....

Im waiting on my friend to send me a pair of 8.5 ds2's with re-o1r's but hes taking forever! A local friend has some kumho spt's for $100 almost brand new so i just might go with those since I cant afford new tires right now. The stock clutch is starting to get more worn, I feel the grabbing point getting higher lately.

what slicks were you running again?

Some grinding of the rear calipers is required to make them fit.

No fair you are on slicks! I am going to go back to the track sometime soon with some new Direzza star specs and hopefully 1st to 2nd won't spin as much.

If I had some mickey thompsons and my clutch held I would launch the car at 6000rpms and hit a 1.7 60ft and run 12's!

In all seriousness though, congrats on the new time! What rpm were you launching at?

In a single State, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. Haha, thanks. But those are hardly the ideal drag racing tires. Like I said, I bought them for $50. Just to give you an idea, in 2004/05 they where used on a Miata for road racing. Then a guy used them on his 450hp drag Intrgra for 3 seasons. Then then sat for a year or two. That being said, I still believe they have a few 1.6's left in them. Although due to my incompetence, I've never been able to take them there. I launched them anywhere from 4k-6k. The clutch didn't like the 6k start. I put a new one in this wed, but now its throwing a CE..

Also, I wish I was a shifting/launching god like you.

Ah I see. Those are good 60fts then if the tires have been used that much. Shifting quick isn't hard, but it takes practice. Try sitting in a seat and do the motions as fast as you can and then go practice in the car.

Now you need to break in that new clutch so don't go shifting really quick until 500 miles (if it's a stock clutch). Hopefully I will be able to get a 1.8 flat 60ft this year and beat your time, but I feel like my clutch might be hurting. It held up just fine when I went from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd when racing a G37 last night so hopefully it's ok.

When are you planning to hit the strip next? I feel like there is a little rivalry developing between you me and jworms. You had the fastest time between us, then I did that 13.34. Then you put your diff in and passed me with the 13.29. Then worms beat my time by .004. I went out and shaved another .1xx passing up the both of you. The three of us are with a .122 of each other. Like I've told Johnathan, the ball is now in your court

I've mentioned it to you before, but I'll say it again. You wouldn't believe how often your accomplishments of a low et with a low trap are brought up amongst my friends. I would really love to see you abandon your ls1 plans and and invest some money into that s52 of yours. With your driving skill, I'm sure you can be in the mid 12's with a few bolt ons and a tune.

Wow that is a very big compliment. Thank you very much.

The LS1 plans are down the road in a couple years so the S52 will still be here for a while. When TRM comes out with a tune for OBD2 I may buy it because I think my car can benefit from a good tune. I may end up doing the raceland headers and custom midpipe (for weight savings) because those are cheap options with good results.

I do think that as my car sits now I could manage a 13.2 flat or high 13.1 if I was able to get a 1.80 60ft, but I need better tires than the UHP Exclaims I have right now. If I were to get DR's then I probably could get those 60fts but I kinda want to do it on street tires.

for what it's worth, i probably won't get another shot at it until around november when conditions are better...that's also assuming i don't completely break my car before that ( http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...3#post18729923 )

isn't it great? sure, it's fun to have our friendly banter about who will do it first, but the best part is that it looks like we're all going to get there eventually...with [hopefully] many more to come, some of which will probably raise the bar even further! i can't wait!

completely agree! i would love to see what he could do with a couple more mods. i think he's definitely got what it takes to be the one who runs 12s with the least amount of work done. that in itself is one hell of a bar to set!
