1/4 mile time of BMW CCA IP E36 M3 race car?

Just curious what a club racer can do with all the "go fast" mods and 2700lb weight......

dunno, but class legal weight is 2970, and I think most average around 270 rwhp. You should be able to find a calculator online to come up with a 1/4 mile time from that.

okay...found one and tried...2970 car weight and 270hp on the wheel = 12.9 sec ..... probably around 110 mph??

That would depend on tires. There was a thread from a couple days ago on just that topic.

See, first its drifting and now its drag racing.

    Hoosier drag radials of course!

Or maybe some tall azz Mickey Thompsons if the IP car has been tubbed.

what I want to know is the difference between IP class car and stock m3....so it is in BMW CCA IP-class race condition...2970 min weight and race tires.

I'll prolly get flamed for this, but Ill admit it. I take my IP car to the dragstrip about once a week. Keeps my reflexes in top condition in case BMWCCA ever decides to do standing starts. Then my competition is scr00d!

Plus, I have a legit answer when Im at the gas stations towing home from race tracks and people ask: "What dat thing run in da quartah YO!?"

Yeah but I hear you're granny shifting instead of double-clutching like you should.

my guess would be something in the high 11s to low 12s (depending on 60ft) at around 112mph. fishforlife has run his car at the strip and trapped 109mph with probably something in the 230s for rwhp and his car weighed in at around 2700lbs with him in it i think. the stiff suspension isn't very conducive to drag racing, but there's always bigger/stickier tires.

i'd love to see one of these cars run. it would probably set a record for a US spec E36 M3. who's up for the challenge?

I doubt they'll get into 11s. I think mid to high 12s low 13s is a little more realistic.

say 2970lb/300hp = 9.9lb/hp. That is about the same as the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 on Car&Driver this issue (JUL/08)....it ran 13.3@108 miles....

Some people in the "Track, Auto-X & Drag Racing" subforum are so damn pompous. I'm not a fan of drag racing, but I am a little curious to know the answer to the question.

Fish when are you picking up a set of those evosport cams, so we can see a e36 m3 hit mid 12's.
