Are the LTW wheels fully forged?

Is the whole wheel fully forged, meaing both the center and the lip are forged?

Also, the Contours are not forged at all, correct?

One more question, are all of the OEM LTW wheels, even ones that came on 96-99 M3's as an option, they are fully forged, correct?

Is there a difference between the LTW wheels that came on the LTW M3, and the ones that just came on later M3's as an option?

Also, anyone know how much the LTW wheels weigh?

    YES THERE IS A DIFFERENT.

the difference is the on the 95 LTW, the is the MOTORSPORT embossed on the rim.

    unlike the 96+...it's blank.

'95 LTWs are painted silver and have BMW MOTORSPORTS on the hub.

96-99 are forged as well, but polished and don't have the BMW MOTORSPORTS stamped in the hub.

I think they weigh ~19-20lbs give or take a lb or two. A few lbs lighter than a 10-spoke, which are a lb or two lighter than a Contour.

The polished ltw wheels (staggered) were an option on 95 m's. Mine came with the car and they were a 2k option on the window sticker.

So I save about 10-15 lbs. going with the LTW wheels rather than the M Contours, correct?

That's pretty close. From what I can remember it's much closer to 15lbs total, or maybe a hair over.

For rotational weight that's not a bad deal.

Ok, now I am definitely going to go with the LTW wheels rather than the M Contours.

There really isn't a 'place' where you can buy them. Rather you need to keep your eye on the classified sections of this forum and turnermotorsport.com

Actually you can still get the forged double spoke at Bavauto, and likely the dealerships. Costs a pretty penny though. Don't think they make the Motorsport engraved versions anymore.

Holy sh!t that is impressive! How did you manage that?

Anyways, back to the topic. Interestingly, there was a 3rd version of the forged wheel available on the europe-only M3 GT. It was polished AND had "BMW Motorsport" engraved into it. I'm sure they were available as an option in Europe and Australia because one of the aussie members used to have them.

    THat's only 50 posts a day ....

I think he must have too much time on his hands. He needs to find some of these:

Actually, 3145 posts in 1 month and 2 days, but I talked about that in another thread

Thanks for all the info. Looks like I will go for the LTW wheels.

So did they make the staggered setup w/ the "MOTORSPORT" stamped on the hub?

I thought these only came in 7.5" and were the ones on the real LTW.

I thought the staggered set only had the M emblem on it?
