Good looking design and apparent attention to detail. Are you using nutserts to hold it in the front?

How do I change my oil with this installed? Does it have to come off?

It has a hole for the oil to drain. It is set all the way to one side so you can get to the nut and still drain. The front bolts on.

I Don't Understand Why This Is Needed. Can Someone Please Convince Me Why This Is Worth The Money, Time, And Weight?

Its a skid plate to protect your oil pan. The oil pans on e30s are particularly vulnerable as they are a forward sump. It is especially vulnerable on lowered cars, m42s, and 24v swap cars.

It is supposed to deflect direct impacts to the oil pan. BMW offers OEM versions which are not as aggro as these, but still function.

I Understand What This Product Does. I Was Looking More So As To Why It Would Be Needed.

I Just Think That With Due Care, The Chances Of Hitting Something Are Slim. Yes It Can Happen, But This Seems To Be A Little Over Kill.

    Then dont buy one!

I know of a large number of guys on the boards that go through a couple pans a year, and sometimes, in the wet, at night or on the freeway, sink holes or debris are unnavoidable.

I bet you think seat belts are a dumb idea too?

These will be especially useful for people who have lowered their cars or live in areas with poor roads.

You use the PS bolts in the rear, then you drill small holes in the lower cross brace and you are done. 30min max

Someone on here (or is it r3vlimited?) is on his 6th or 7th oil pan, so I doubt he thinks this is overkill.

Saw them yesterday, look pretty nice. When I move downtown I might need one, but I don't really need it in the area I'm living in now.

Call up Factory3 and Carr and sell them a couple aluminum ones for resale to the SpecE30 crowd. It's more pricey then what we're using, but it's a lot nicer too.

I will definetly be contacting you in the near future as I just hit my oil pan a week ago so now am replacing it very soon. Soon after, I will buy this skid plate for the M20. Great looking product by the way!

They all install the same. The only difference is where the drain for the oil is.
