    New Owner - 2001 740i Sport

    Got the new (new to me), silver and black 740i sport two days ago. Staggered factory M-pars, shadowline trim, sport seats, sport steering wheel, 67k miles.

    Damn, I wish I would have bought one of these a few years ago, I might have saved myself a few new car swaps.

    I love the sport feel, it feels quick, the sport gearing really feels just perfect on starts, streets, highway, I really love it. Suspension is firm, but not too brutal, sport seats very adjustable and comfortable.

    I hope I will have pictures to post in the next couple of days.

    Runs great and everything works, even the cupholders, but...a few little things need to be sorted.

    Loose OBD cover, a few little dings (paintless dent removal should work), but otherwise, all A OK. Excellent mechanically, maintenance all up to snuff. All dash light pixels and nav screen are good. Leather is excellent.

    I have a short list of projects for starters:
    1) get rid of the amber front corner lights, replace with clear ones;
    2) install fresh new OEM floor mats (is anthracite the same as black, the interior looks black to me)?;
    3) replace the Nav disc with a up-to-date SE version

    I did a search of this site and I have googled, etc...

    Has anyone got a good deal on new OEM floor mats recently? Best deal I have found is ebay, $96 plus $10 shipping (the dealer wants $130). Suggestions, or supporting vendor offering a good price?

    I Need a new Nav disc. This is a late model 2001 and has wide screen Nav, but it has an old disc for the west coast. I need a Southeast disc and would like an up-to-date one. Best place for this? I searched and it looks like someone sold some a year or two ago, but nothing recent. I found one on ebay but I think it is an older date disc. Anyone other than the dealer selling these, if so what should they cost?

    I love this car......

    Congrats on the new ride. You can get a nav disc from Navteq, or on ebay.

    The BMW OE floor mats can sometimes be purchased for less than the price mentioned on ebay.

    Go to www.e38.org and look near the top of the right column. You'll see a whole list of Dealers and aftermarket vendors that sell nationally. Circle/Pacific/The BMW Store, etc...all have websites and/or toll free phone numbers. You can co a price check or visit their websites to see how much they are selling the floor mats for.

    I like the mats that Bavarian Auto Sport sells, bavauto.com. Believe they are 120-ish but you can get them embroidered.

    Navteq.com for your CD, 129 bucks + shipping. Ain't cheap, but hey thats not why we're driving the ultimate machine...

    Welcome!

    Yep, checked Navteq, I guess if you get the whole set for $199, you could sell some of the discs you don't need and reduce the end cost a bit. It's that or one disc for $129 and it doesn't even have the state 90 miles north of me (Tennessee).

    Thanks for the welcome and I will try to post pics soon.

    On the unfortunate side i did a tire and wheel check today, and I don't know who or how this was done or why I missed it, but the PO or the dealer put the spare on the rear right and the original was scraped up pretty badly, and the tire was flat (big hole in it. Well I walked around the car again and notice the left rear wheel (the wider one) was on the front of the car....very bozo move and I did not even notice for 2 days. And it really drove good but maybe a little "off" mostly at low speeds.

    I'm getting the other rear wheel repaired now and have decided on a new set of tires all the way around as I don't like mismatched sets.

    Any suggestions on tires, preferably Z rated? 235/50-18, 255/45-18's?

    Yeah...you may ready "imola red". What a great color. The car really looks great in red, but I already have a guards red targa and decided one red car was enough. (Just jealous of the color)...

    I may be ready for a get together soon but want to sort a few cosmetics first. I don't want to look too plain next to yours.

    Thanks.
