I gotta admit, I'm pretty darn impressed with the highway capabilities of these cars. Me and the family took a little early mothers day present trip down to Savannah GA earlier this week, as I started summer school today :( . We were going to take my moms Nissan, but it threw a check engine light on Saturday and we were leaving Monday...so we hopped in the touring! I've taken several trips out of town before and managed to get in the mid 25mpg range, but going to Savannah with 4 adults, luggage and the AC on full blast (still haven't replaced the microfilter) I got 24.9mpg! That really kind of surprised me, on the way back we got a little less, I averaged 24.1 but still pretty happy with the gas mileage. I really have no idea if thats good gas mileage out of this car, I just figured being fully loaded it was fairly decent.
Highlights of the trip, other than staying in the Jekyll Island Club hotel I saw Tabascos e39 touring in traffic right above Calhoun GA, he pulled up, he nodded and I gave a thumbs up. Makes me really want to do something with mine, but alas it will just get ruined in the school parking lot.

yea hoghway car is defenetly the name. On the way to bimmerfest i got 26.7 mpg at an average speed of 83mph. On the way back my dad drove and he was like " wow this car gets to 80 really easy, that's dangerous" and im like yea, i avreaged 83 on the way to santa barbra," and he's like "Whoa! thought we were going 65!"

Yeah, I forgot to mention that, we averaged between 80-85 the whole way. I really don't know if it would have gotten much better at 70, as it was pretty loaded down.

Lucky you.
At an average of 80-85mph, the only 25 I get is the number of stops for fuel ...

Yeah, I'm content with the Highway capabilities of my M20 525i. For a heavy car and smaller engine, after 45MPH I have no troubles driving in the left lane.:D
And gas mileage is sitting around ~28-29MPG HWY on my trips.

a steady pace of 45MPH and higher is great for these cars. In older threads I've heard ppl getting 19-23 so i guess thats good. I rarely go on the highway so I never get to full experience that joy.

The highway is where the bimmers shine. I don't really care for them in the city. Even the e30's are sluggish between lights.

Love my M5 on the HWY. Fuel economy? What's that?
