So, today I took it upon myself to wet-dry sand my oxidized roof and repaint it
starting with a automotive spray can primer (we will see how it turns out in the end) and im going to use some touch up spray paint that matches my paint (supposedly)
The whole price for all paint and sandpaper with masking tape was

$22.35

oh....and Considering i just purchased some touch up paint for some chips in my hood from the stealership for $40.....thats damn good.

So heres the before-after primer.
tomorrow I will post pics of the before after Primer-color coat

Oh ballin, that's looking good. I cant quite tell, how far down did you go in terms of sanding?

Nice either way, looking forward to more pics. Upload some of the whole car, that blue is beautiful!

Sanding, mostly just clear coat was completely gone, some areas were down to original primer while other still had color.

In the pic im the one on the left BTW =D

And thank you, Im getting the car resprayed soon (next few months) so I figured as a temp solution id try this..

I might be going to a black or maybe a darker blue..Havent decided =]

But pics will be up tomorrow. whole car...

Good stuff! Can't wait to see the finished result. My car's hood and roof will need similar treatment. Where in Cali you at?

I'm guessing Paint Scratch? I HOPE I'M RIGHT!

(that's where I got my color matched paint and other supplies)

I actually used Duplicolor primer and Paint because the color I purchased was A match to my stock paint. I painted it myself in my garage..Not the best ventilation...but hey, it got the job done.

Im soooo great full for the duplicolor fan spray tip. it helped out SO much in the painting process. For the whole roof I used

2 Cans duplicolor Primer

3 cans of duplicolor Color coat

And Im going to use 2 coats of a clear coat I have yet to purchase..

Also, before primer I used 400 grit, then 800 grit.

After primer I used 800 grit EXTREMELLY LIGHTLY, then went over with 2000 grit.

Next step is 2000 grit over color coat, and then clear =]

Im In vacaville, CA

I may have to employ you to fix my roof and hood...they aren't looking too hot as of now.

Just to clarify you used spray paint? Or is that the premixed that you need a gun for...My paint is very bad on the hood and roof and deck lid...well actually everywhere.

I took my car to Precision Auto Body today where my Mini is being fixed and got a quote for $10,000 to repaint my car. I laughed.

If your roof turns out good, I will pay you to paint my hood and bumpers if you want to. I just need to get a fix so it doesnt look so much like ass. My car gets so many compliments then people see the roof and feel bad for me.

Okay, so SOOO many questions.
I AM using spray paint.
Im using duplicolor clear coat and it works well, but ok course not a perfect match to the factory clear.

I will post pics tomorrow of clear coat (still needs a good 2 more cans put into it at 6.49 each)

There are parts i am satisfied with and some I am not.

Upon painting this though I realized how great it Would look on trim and bumpers. I might paint my black bumpers with the same color, and because the bumpers are low the paint difference will be almost impossible to see...

When i jump on that ill post pics.

All i can say is the end result is 500000000x better than before!
I now have no oxidation =]
