Hello I'm having an intermitent problem with my car. I believe it's related to the clutch but I'm not 100% sure.

Only thing that was replaced recently in that area is the slave cylinder.

What happens is that the clutch pedal doesn't always feel the same. It's like its weight varies. Sometimes it can be normal (i.e. heavy compared to a civic), and at other times it will become very light. I was suspecting the clutch disc itself, but recently I noticed that it can be light even when the car is off. Therefore I don't see how it would be related to clutch disc thickness.

So now I'm wondering wether it is the throwout bearing, pusher plate or master cylinder that is going.

When driving, if the pedal becomes light, when I start from a stop in 1st gear, sometimes the car will have a whining noise. It stops if I kick the clutch pedal, sometimes comes back and it doesn't do it nearly as much in 2nd and never in 3rd gear.

Also, when in neutral, if I depress the clutch pedal, the sound of the engine is not the same. There's a kind of "shhhhh" noise when the pedal is depressed.

So does anyone know what that would be?

Did you bleed all the air out of the slave after you replaced it? A throw out bearing would make more of a rattling noise. Just my $.02
