About a year ago, I had my first 335i sedan as a loaner car. This car was amazingly fast, I found it difficult to launch the car smoothly and slowly, it was so responsive that it whipped one's head back. So I have been driving my new coupe for a month now and it seems much tamer than the sedan from a year ago. Don't get me wrong it's fast but, does not seem as responsive as the earlier sedan model. Could BMW have tuned down the intial throttle response to make for a smoother launch off the line in everyday driving or am I already used to the speed of this car or could I have something wrong, with the car that is? My comparison is with Automatic transmission on both vehicles

Sorry, can you explain what this has to do with the speed though? I am looking for a more accurate title reflecting the discussion you want to have.

Maybe this doesn't speak to your question, but when I've driven the 335i Coupe I just started in second gear and it worked like a charm. If I owned the car I'd start in second for all normal driving. But, the combination of getting used to a new clutch and the car's power can make starting in first for the first few times a bit of a surprise.

Sure, How about 335i coupe responsiveness? I am referring to the rate of change at which the car launches from no motion to fast motion.

My intent for this thread is that my new coupe does not feel as responsive or fast, off the line, as the sedan I drove a year or less ago. BTW my comparison is AT on both vehicles.

Updated the title, does this reflect better what you want to discuss?
Just to clarify, many folks forget when creating a thread that some members subscribe to RSS feeds, sometimes even on their mobiles, and a descriptive title is important for them to be able to know what is of interest, thus why us mods go about correcting titles.

There were some threads about the recent DME flashes above 28.x that BMW may have adjusted the throttle sensitivity to reduce some jerkiness in the automatic when in DS/M mode. Your dealer can tell you which PROGMAN you have currently just by reading your key fob or it may even be in your records.

Here's an example of someone who felt the same thing: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125761&highlight=progman
