I'm pretty sure you pry it off the same way you do the hood and lid emblems. It is held in place with clips. And I think that carbon fiber piece is usually glued over the original thing and doesn't replace it.

it goes into the place of the one that is in there now, i took it off another e36. it's fairly thick and fits in there nice if i could just get the old one off. i just don't want to scratch up my dash trying to get the original one off.

when you replace quality OEM BMW parts with cheap Hong Kong imports you need not worry about physical damages your car during the mod, either way the spiritual damage is far worse.

If you know how to take it off in the first place....

On the early gloveboxes from 92-93, there is nothing to remove. That textured section is molded into the vent panel.

thats what i thought cause other e36's the piece is actually sticking out a bit from the vent panel.

Well i know that on my car there are 4 screws that hold the panel that houses that trim. There should be 2 in the vents, one on each side, then 2 in the glovebox. Then that panel will pull out and you can release the clips on the back holding the trim in place. I am not sure if it is the same for your car, but that is how it is on my car.

You can swap in the newer glovebox that does have the removable trim piece, but the grain on the door won't match the rest of the dash, and it seems to me that they're more prone to warping. The color may also be off slightly, for the non-black interiors.

oem or not , still looks good ... would look better if the CF was going on a black interior imo : P
