i drive a 1995 318is -_- i know boo 4 cylinder

But i got a exhaust and intake for it and still not happy with the power. Even tho i love the handling.

I was thinking about buying in to getting a 50 hp shot of nitrous.

what would the best/cheapest kit be? and is there anything i should watch for ?

GO with the NOS 05150NOS kit it will work fine for what you want. It will 50-75 xtra HP

I have the same kit on my car and had it on my M3 also perfectly safe and fun as hell ;)

I'v allwas been kind of scared of running nitrous on a car. The way you guys talk its no big deal? I'd say go turbo cheaper then super and dosnt seem so harsh as nitrous. Guess im wrong roomers on nitrous ruining a engine arnt true?

Turbo, supercharger, and nitrous are all bad for an engine IF its not properly tuned. Take a Civic and slap a turbo on it and its still crap. But with tuning they are pretty decent. Nitrous is the same way. If done properly, it can be great. I'm not expert, but wet shot is the way to do if you're looking for power but not sinking a lot of money into the system. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

nitrous is forced induction no matter what anyone says. its just as powerful as a turbo or a supercharger. think of it this way with a turbo or supercharger you are always running boost which if the engine isnt built right will take a beating. nitrous only runs when you want it to. when properly tuned you will be absolutely safe it just takes a lot of tuning to get it there. a wet kit is not the best kit, the best kit is direct port which is the safest as nitrous is evenly distributed. however a wet kit will go a LONG way in engine safety. a dry kit is a huge chance you take on blowing your engine. and no matter what anyone says nitrous is very efficient. nitrous is dogged on and has a bad rep because ricers can buy a dry kit not know anything bout tuning and gain instant power. a good nitrous kit with tuning will run about 800 bucks or more. where dry kits are only 200 bucks where ricers can afford

Isn't direct port quite expensive to install and tune compared to wet shot kit? I don't know much on the subject, but I always knew direct port to be price-ier. It runs down to, what does someone want? A lot of power, or reliability.

This is it in a nutshell.... nitrous is safe when properly tuned. Mixture and timing must be correct, otherwise detonation (knock) can occur and that is what tears up an engine quick. Direct port is best because even distribution is possible. With a wet kit, the nitrous is injected into the air stream and then the nitrous is distributed via the intake manifold just like the airflow. The problem is that the intake manifold does not distribute the air/nitrous mixture equally. The intake is designed to distribute air, and air/nitrous has different properties than air alone.

For best results, direct port is the way to go. Better for performance and safest. You can tune to the individual cylinder. Wet kits work, but the inability to tune to the individual cylinder means that some cylinders will run lean, putting them at higher risk of failure.

Nitrous done properly is not cheap, and then there is continual the cost of the nitrous fuel. A DASC is probably cheaper and safer in the long run.

meh as long as you are running a wet shot your will be fine just keep it under a 100 shot

I am not running a direct port setup, I am running a single fogger in the CAI after the MAF (i dont like the idea of fuel spraying on the heated wire.)
I ran a 100 shot on my M3 and now run a 75 shot on my 325i. I do all my own Engine work including headgaskets and turbo builds. Minus the welding ;) and all i can say is that the Nitrous has not adversly affected either of my cars, granted I no longer have the damn LA car theives. But i check compression every time I do plugs which is every three months. I have ran nitrous for 2+ years on a fairly consistant basis so I think i can say its good. Just make sure your compression is good first.
