I have had a rather squeaky clutch pedal (It is the pedal itself, I'm certain) and want to know what to replace to prevent any more continuous squeaks. I did some searching and saw that there is a debate as to whether you need to replace the bushings in the pedal, the helper spring, or both. Which is it? Thanks!

do you want to fix it correctly or just treat the problem?

hey, if you know the solution to that one, I have the same prob... I want to just treat it right now with grease in the right place... later will fix correctly, when I have time, money, and have settled. undergoing a transition right now, so can't invest too much time into car atm, and don't have tools and such with me anyway.

how do I get at the necessary pivot joint and spring and all that? I tried taking off the dash thing that's right above the driver's knees, but I saw two screws and no more and it wasn't coming off, left hand side of it was still holding on. couldn't find a diy on taking that off, what is that part called anyway? maybe that's why, I didn't know what term to search for it under.

The Knee panel has a few clips as well, be gentle or they could break:

dude, it worked! I soaked the spring assembly with Pyroil White Lithium Grease and the noise is gone! :redspot:redspot

now just to fix the steering wheel squeal... I've soaked the whole steering rod from the wheel outside the firewall down to the steering rack... and the noise is still there.

I'll try to get the spring assembly soaked tomorrow. I'll let you know how it all works out.

If I even have to squirt it up once a month or so, I think I'd be fine with that as a temporary switch. It's easy enough. What would be the permanent solution otherwise?

Not sure if the fellow who did the work is still making them, worth a look.
