Hello all, I am new to the wonderful world of Bimmers. I am also new to owing a turbo charged car (my 335i). I know the basics of how a turbo works, but I would like to do some more reading on my engine. Anyone have any good websites that go fairly in depth about my engine, preferably one with pictures/diagrams? I enjoy working on my cars, but I need a better knowledge foundation about this engine. I searched this forum, but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks all!

Cheers,
M

www.bmwusa.com has some great info on the engine, also, search wikipedia for "N54" and "BMW"

Thanks, I have actually looked at both those. I was looking for a little more in depth than what the bmw site gives, and I looked at wiki a little, but I'll go back and read more. I'm just afraid to get wrong info from them. But thanks for the help.

Not much info on Wikipedia either (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N54), I'd say Google is your friend my friend and we appreciate if you update this thread with your findings, I am sure many will find it useful.

btw, I applaud the guts of anyone willing to work on these cars themselves esp. when under warranty (I am not talking about the normal DIY, but the hardcore mechanical stuff). These cars became so complicated and computer controlled, I doubt many will be able or willing to work on them without the resources that say a dealer has (both in equipment and expertise). Best of luck.
