does anyone know if you can mod a normal bumper to put an ///m rear diffuser in it? i can get the diffuser locally, pretty cheap (if the guy still has it... )

You can mod the M3 diffuser to fit (cheaper than hacking the bumper cover).
BavAuto also sells a direct fit M3-style one for about $100.

I have the one from BavAuto and It is decent. I gave it a 7/10 overall in my review. I plan on trimming it a bit for a better fit, but I have had more important things to do. It's a great alternative to a new rear bumper.

+1....pretty much sums it up. I have the M-style diffuser for non-M rear bumper as well. It fits OK, but not as well as a full M bumper w/M diffuser.
It does look 1000 times better though, especially if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

Yes! I did my rear bumper, you just remove the exsisting flat panel & install the Diffuser!

^^Hey JB, isn't that the diffuser for the non-M bumper? I'm just asking because it sticks out a bit at the top like mine does.
I thought you had to cut a bit off of the actual M diffuser to make it fit on our bumpers.

Its a M tec one...the ones for m3s take some trimming to make it fit...
Mine doesnt go all the way in...so i gotta figure out what to trim to make it go in another half inch maybe. if its super cheap then i would do it and try....
I bought a front M lip for 10 bucks off of CL and practiced trimming it to fit on a stock bumper....I was on the fence about actually installing it after i had it on so i just left it off.
If it woulda looked nice I either would have refinished it or baught a new one and trimmed it.

Thats why I am going to experiment with trimming it.
