I have a 2006 330i that has recently started to make a noise at startup. After starting the engine, within a few seconds, there is a whirring noise similar to an engine sound that increases in pitch and speed!
It sounds like a high speed fan or belt that is increasing in speed and it is extremely loud. It was loud enough that I thought it was another vehicle driving by. This happened 4 times on the same day each time I started the car. I am assuming that it is not the engine as there is no change in the rev. I thought it may be a cooling fan bc it was extremely hot this past weekend but I have never heard the sound before.
The noise stops after 15-20 seconds. Has anyone ever experienced this? I brought it to the dealer today and they were unable to duplicate it
