ok rotors are on thing I'm completely clueless about. Is there a big difference between super nice rotors and crap ones? Will just simply cleaning my stock ones be just as good?

There is not a big difference at all. Especially for a non track car, differences wont even be noticeable. I got a set of the 30 dollar ones from rockauto.com and they are fine, even in track conditions. People spending 200 per rotor are just strange in my opinion.

If yours are warped replace them. If not just leave them alone.

Ate, Brembo, Balo or Zimmermann...stick with these brands.

Cleaning your rotors will do nothing if they're below min thickness.

get plain blanks from UUC, theyre the same price as blank brimbo's but come with paint on the non friction parts that normally rust

Check bimmerzone.com they had a special on Brembo blanks and PBR pads and sensors for $230 shipped. I bought them and am very satisfied.

where's imane30m20nut at? I'm surprised he hasn't said anything about this yet.

OEM blanks are going to give you the best street performance. There is much discussion about the slotted, dimpled or cross-drilled rotors being able to better dissipate hot gases. personally, I wouldn't go with cross-drilled because of the compromised strucural integrity of the rotor. Same goes for slotted that are slotted all the way to the end. I run slotted (not all the way to the rim) and dimpled rotors because they look cool, not because they provide better stopping power.

Here's the bottom line... can you lock up your tires? If you can lock them up, then your braking power is exceeding your tires' coefficient of friction to the road, and you have sufficient rotors for your setup. Unless you have wide slicks and are running on the track, OEM blanks are going to be excellent rotors. The other choices are either aesthetic-only or just wrong.
