I am going to be ordering a 328 Coupe sometime very soon (Montego Blue, manual, no other options). And since I am already looking at a July delivery date, I was thinking of waiting a little longer so I can have a 2009.

Has anyone heard when the 2009s start production?

And just to give you an idea of why I am stuck on the idea of a 2009, I did some research on 3-4 year old Audis/BMWs/Benzs and their resale values. Turns out that if you have the exact same car, same miles, same options, but the model year is different by 1 year, you will have approximately 10.8% better resale value for the newer car.

For example:
2004 330Ci with 35K miles, dealer retail is $27,455
2005 330Ci with 35K miles, dealer retail is $30,240
So, same car, and if I waited another couple of months to get a 2009, I can expect to have better resale value.

2009s should arrive in October if similar to last Fall. The dealer should be able to order in August or early September. You can work out a deal with the dealer now even though the order will not be officially placed until BMW allows it in the system.

You may want to consider a diesel engine. Diesel will be available for 2009 models but may be Dec or later delivery. They will provide better gas mileage but diesel is running higher $ per gallon so some of savings will be offset unless the spread contracts.
