As the title indicates, I'm considering selling my 1999 M3. It has the Active Autowerkes Stage II or stage 2.5, whatever they call the turbo on there. Yes, Karl has the documentation and everything for my car. :) Titanium silver exterior with black leather interior.

The car itself has around 37K miles on it. The kit itself has around 17K miles on it. I've never experienced any problems with it. I am FANATICAL about the maintenance on this car. You can ask anyone that has seen it or knows me, I have spent thousands upon thousands religiously maintaining it. I do a COMPLETE tuneup each year, a COMPLETE and THOROUGH inspection of "everything." This includes compression, leak tests, pressure testing the cooling system, etc.

I have so many damn parts for the car it's not funny.
$40,000 FIRM. I do not need to sell it; but, I am looking at a 993 C2 or a 1997 NSX right now :buttrock ; so, if I can sell it, great, I get a new car and the new owner gets a meticulously maintained car.

Items on the car:
1) Active Autowerkes stage II turbo
2) AA RTAB's
3) Racing Dynamics strut bar
4) AA shift knob
5) ///M rear trunk mat
6) aluminum engraved ///M side sills
7) 5 angle pnp head job

9) wheelskins two-tone steering wrap (grey/black)
10) aluminum trim
11) Greddy turbo timer
12) Profec B boost controller
13) TT supra fuel pump
14) 5 bar fpr
15) AA billet control arms
16) Bilstein shocks
17) GC RSM's
18) silver smoked rear tail lights
19) Brembo cross-drilled rotors (front and rear)
20) Pagid blue brake pads
21) UUC motorwerks 3-way adjustable sway bars
22) UUC billet pedals
23) UUC DTM exhaust
24) Racing downpipe
25) Autometer boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure, a/f, and EGT gauges. (apillar pod holders and sunglass pod holders)
26) BMP racing tranny mount
27) powdercoated brake calipers
28) SPAL electric fan (650 cfm)
29) OBD-I intake manifold
30) OBD-I conversion
31) OBD-I TB

37) Panasonic 7000 LCD in-dash screen
38) Panasonic 9000 a/v unit
39) Goldstar DVD player
40) it will include a BRAND new custom-fabricated RPS clutch and pressure plate
41) I am forgetting items ... but, you get the picture, like brand new oil pump, loctited the oil pump nut (I did this as precautionary just to avoid any possible mishaps and the oil pump is relatively cheap to replace since we were already down there

Extra pieces that are not on the car; but, lying around:
1) Racing dynamics rear spoiler
2) M3 instrument cluster
3) cat-back exhaust (original)
4) original M3 exhaust

14) wheelskin shift boot (lt. grey)
15) strobe lights (not installed yet)
16) stonguard hood shield
17) stonguard for headlights and foglights

Maintenance history:

1) oil change every 3K miles with BMW 5W30
2) complete tuneup completed 4/2003 (yes, that includes, fuel filter, air filter, micro filter, spark plugs, belts, etc.)
3) complete inspection of drivetrain/suspension/hoses, etc.
4) leakdown/compression tests
5) my mechanic is an AA authorized dealer/installer, so rest assured Karl and him talk weekly and he is not a hack mechanic and does NOT cut any corners
6) complete cooling system swap ... new upper/lower hoses, water pump, thermostat, etc..etc.

In essence, I spared NO expense on this vehicle.

Boost

Daily -- I leave the boost setting on 6.5 lbs (lo-boost) = 322 rwhp and 297 ft*lbs of torque. From what Karl and my mechanic tell me, this car has an EXTREMELY strong engine. My dyno's were not from a dynojet, so the numbers are not inflated. I have actually never run hi-boost on this car: only because I wanted to upgrade the fuel pump and fpr; which was just done and I wanted to install the computech EGT monitor. The computech has been backordered for several months; but, should be coming in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm ultra-careful with the car: reliability was the most important aspect of this setup. I would sacrifice power for a more reliable system. Since we could not accurately monitor EGT's, we decided to hold off on hi-boost. Honestly, if you have never driven a 322 rwhp M3, there's no need for hi-boost. You'll be happy as hell just sitting on lo-boost.

Ahh, that reminds me, I also have a remote boost controller switch that can mount to your steering wheel. This can be handy if/and when you run hi-boost. This car has been extremely reliable. No detonation, no pinging, excellent afr's, etc.

This car is a freak of nature, I should only be dynoing around 280-290 rwhp at 6.5 lbs; but, the engine is super strong. My mechanic and Karl thoroughly went over the vehicle together (on the phone at least) this past April just to make sure everything is working correctly. We pulled the DME to make sure the correct software was in, etc.

Condition of Vehicle:

Honestly, I would rate this car a 9.5/10. I am not rating it a 10 since it is a used vehicle. However, anyone that has seen my engine/vehicle, will tell you it glows. You can friggin' EAT OFF the engine: it really is that clean. I keep the car in great shape. Oh yeah, I have Schroth 4-point clip-in harnesses as well to hold you in (like I said, there's so much, I forget all of the items).

The paint looks incredible ... the interior glows (even the Vaders are in great condition, no wearing, looks practically brand new; but, I bought the Wet Okole seat covers to keep them that way). As you can see, it's not owned by some punk teenager kid and so it was religiously maintained.

If anyone has any questions, EMAIL ME the questions that you have, or alternatively call me: (202) 320-3821. If you post here I WILL NOT respond to any questions. Please do not bitch about my price, please do not tell me I'm asking to much: I'm asking alot; but, probably about 1/4 of the cost of what has gone into it. I can show you the receipts just from this past year on how much I've spent on maintenance, buying items, etc...to give you an idea that I'm not being unreasonable.

Notwithstanding that I've done all of the maintenance that anyone would want done, compression/leak, everything ...

If you have nice things to say, go ahead and post :D ... but, negative things will not be appreciated ;) ... the car is immaculate, that's all I can say.

Although I've listed all these parts, IT REALLY is a sleeper car. It does not look this highly modified. The vehicle is primarily made for "go" and less "show." Only lately I've been getting into the *bling bling* items.

This is not my only car either, I have another M3 and a Lexus SC400. So, in inclemental weather, other cars were driven. I'm just interested in having a more exotic car at this point in my life: especially as I grow older :D.

Thanks for looking and again EMAIL ME any questions you might have, or alternatively, feel free to call me (202) 320-3821. I know the COMPLETE history of this car. Not many sellers can give you that. You can also feel free to speak with my mechanic, Pat Bissett or David (301) 519-0908 at pro-imports or email David at info@pro-imports.com.

Thanks again,

James

P.S. -- Don't waste my time asking for pictures if you are not serious. I will take any and all pictures if you are serious, even of the individual body panels with the VIN sticker on them if necessary. :D

P.P.S. -- I don't think I deserved it; but, this past weekend the vehicle won Best European 2-Door at the Import Xpression show to give you a better idea of how good of a condition this car is in.

Damn, I keep remembering extra parts .... CF splitter, H7 foglights, etc... there are other items; but, I thought the CF splitter is noteworthy...

When I first opened this thread, I was like, "OH NO...James, you did NOT lost your job!!!..........................."

Hew, I am glad to see that you are "upgrading?" or trading it for something you like. ;)

I can personally vouch for meticulous maintenance that is done on James's car. I always thought he was going way over board with his "even if it ain't broke, i am replacing it just in case".

40k for a car that can open many cans of whoop ass on S54s with AA reliability? Damn...if I ain't moving into my new house, I would sell my car and get yours....

James, its sooooo apparent to anyone who reads your description of your vehicle that a bigger labor of love I dont think Ive ever seen! I thought I was fanatical about my car, but honestly, you put me, and eveybody else I know to shame! So, with all the loving care youve bestowed on your baby, how on earth can you even think of parting with it? Clearly, your car is capable of easily another 50 rwhp, and well over that with a few small part upgrades. I guess youre the type of guy who enjoys the process more than the result. ie, as soon as you get near the end of a project, you start hungering for a new one to begin from scratch. I admire and respect the car which youve bestowed on your pride and joy, and I just hope you can find a home half as worthy as the one you gave it!

selling the AA turbo M3 so soon:( ....anyway, I can also vouch for this car...it is damn fast and in perfect shape...one thing the buyer must understand about James... he is very anal and careful when it comes to this car...he gets it checked out and checked again even when nothing is wrong or it needs absolutely nothing...this is a great thing for the future buyer:redspot ...also Pat and 'da boys at Pro-Imports (the place were the service/work gets done) is a top notch outfit...how do I know?...my M3 LTW track car is taken care of at the same place!

Lastly, although I and everyone else will miss the car, it's nice to see a 993 or NSX in the picture, I've driven both cars at speed on 2 different tracks and both are wonderful performers (a little more difficult to drive past 8/10ths on a given lap than the M3 though)

Thanks Guys -

The reason I am considering selling is I'm getting, just being honest, a little bored with the car. The latest mods that I am doing are more bling bling type of mods.

I mean, the items that I am looking to mod are weird ones now. I'm starting to look seriously at a gullwing conversion and I am adding a PA system to my car. I'm adding an UBER cool alarm system to the car. I'm also thinking about adding rear fog lights to blind driver's behind me ... etc ... etc.

I've been looking at 993's and 97+ NSX's just because it would be fun to have. Perhaps an M5 supercharged also beckons. I will probably end up keeping the car; but, who knows, maybe someone is looking for a car exactly like mine. I know if I was looking for a turbo M3, I would buy my own car ... :D. I think my price is VERY VERY FAIR as well, I've seen at least two 95 turbo M3's for sale, one for $33K obo and another with uber amounts of mods for $40K. Plus, my engine is a freak of nature. I'm already at a stage III power level with my car ...

MisterDVS -- Right, I'm from Oahu. I'm from hawaii kai, with short stints up near mokulei'a and haleiwa. I'm looking for a job in Oahu, so if I can find one, I'll ship the M3 over there and sell my other two cars.

P.S. -- if anyone finds me a buyer, I'll give you a $500 finder's fee: honestly. So, go out and find me a buyer and $500 is yours. I know some of you college students know websites to cross-post my ad. So find them :D .... For instance, if you post it somewhere on say a RSX website and a person sees the ad and purchases it, if you prove you posted the ad ... I'll give you $500. Simple and easy money :D

This and DTM is the only website that it is advertised on now.

James.....get a 993 and have Gemballa throw a turbo in and widebody that sucker :D

You have to give me a ride in your car before you sell it....or move to Hawaii....;)

I don't know if we've talked before but would you be interested in trading for a S2000? You can just trade me the M3 stock with the AA kit and the rest is yours, let me know, heres the link to my car:

No, if someone comes up with a good offer I'll sell it. I just like fooling around with it ... so, hence the stereo stuff. I just keep adding to it .... :D ...

Thanks for the offer S2Kpunisher; but, if I wanted an S2K, I would sell of the Lexus SC400 and just purchase one. I'm looking more at an NSX, Porsche, and E39 M5 primarily. Plus, David, part of my mechanic's group, has an S2K that he would let me purchase as well and he's local :D

Amazing beast! Even before I was interested in M Powered cars, if there ever felt like there was such a time, I did alot of research in NSX's and have come to the conclusion that their FI systems were darn expensive! Then I read about the M3's and nearly shit my pants! But all derogatory terms aside, James seriously has a kick ass, pristine example on his hands. GL with [the] sale/keeping [it] man.

BTW, I'm not aware of too mnay ways to modify the e39 m5. Care to enlighten me for future endeavors? :D

*bump*

I've found a couple of extra items and I've ordered a couple of extra parts that will come with the car:

1) as far as the clutch ... I had one custom-maded. Initially it was a 3-puck design; but, WAY to stiff for the street .. but the new clutch you will still be able to do 6500 rpm's drops with no slipping. No, I don't do 6500 rpm drops ... but, who knows what people do. So, the clutch has zero miles on it right now, being put on.

2) custom IC cooler spray ... hard to explain ... it sprays the front of the FMIC ... good for hot days ... good for when you are moving an inch at a time ... it has dual puller fans situated behind the IC to pull the spray in case you are not moving.

3) Kicker solobaric S12L7 ... I decided to put this into a custom new box ... it fits perfectly between the wheel wells and sits completely flush against the rear seat. It's not your qlogic box or cheap-ass crappola from ebay.

4) will be making a custom amp rack as well to make it look stock with CCFL lighting and plexiglass maybe and all sorts of little tricked items for fun.

5) Purchased 4 brand new Yokohama ES100's 235/40/17 all around ...

6) 2 COMPLETE sets of Axxis ultimate pads

7) I found this one ... CF lip for those that like the BLING!!!!

So, that's the new items I've added so far ....

I'm negotiable on my price ... depending if I can keep some of the items and sell it on my own ... although, you could probably sell alot of my items and make at least $3K off it ...

*bumpola to the nth degree*

about the m5 tuning, I talked to the guys at autoscope of dallas(they are dinan certified) about jan or feb and they said that dinan was coming out with a s/c kit for the m5 producing somewhere around 600hp :buttrock
