Hello all,

My buddy & I just performed an engine swap on my 95/// (s50 to s50). I

believe everything is hooked up correctly with the help of the Bentley Manual

(which doesn't have the engine management diagram for my car but every

other e36).

Problem is that the engine cranks but doesn't start :mad.

I then noticed that the CEL was on:mad:mad:mad.

I checked the codes (PPT) and comes back #1281

Bentley says it's the DME not getting power/ground to the appropriate

places.

DME relay is ok, but I think the DME is messed up, I am unable to open my

fuel door:mad:mad:mad.

I need some expert ///95 advice on this. I think I may need another

DME. Or I may have missed something?

TIA

:help

Does it make a difference if the new engine's an automatic and the old one is manual?

Will check out DME again in the morning and report back.

I originally hooked up the ICV to the CPS and vice versa. Switched plugs around and

problem solved, engine starts...:woot:

Thanks, but then again no thanks!!!

Good job talking yourself through it :)

Note for next time: The wiring diagram for the 1994/1995 2.5L is the same for the s50.
