I know a bunch of you guys done the conversion so I'm wondering what's the best affordable kit I can buy. I'm looking for a kit that I won't have to buy any additional parts to and that can be bolted right on in the garage without any modifications or fabrications. I was looking at Eric's kit at www.m50manifold.com and the K.O. performance one as well here http://www.koperformance.com/BMW/engine/manifolds/ko/ko_performance_bmw_parts_m50_manifold_conversion_k it_e36_m3_pic2.htm
I'm looking for a kit that has the best condition manifold. And Eric if you're reading this, I sent you an email with my number, try to call me so we can talk about it and I'm ready to order.

Heard good things with both kit that you mentioned. If you want a almost factory looking kit, go with the Eurosport kit. Is expensive but I think is worth the extra.

^^Thanks for the info but I really don't have time to fab my own kit. I got a million other things to do with the car to get it ready for extreme autofest and track in june. Seems like Eric's kit is the most complete so I'll most likely will be ordering that one. I like the look of the eurosport one better but not sure if I want to spend so much on it.

erics kit is good, I have it, looks stock, the only thing is its a custom fit, so you hafta do adjusting and use a hack saw to cut the manifold bracket but its not hard

I've seen Eric's kit and its solid. He's a great guy too, definitely recommend his stuff.

What's all that metal stuff underneath the manifold that comes with the eurosport kit? This stuff

Cut the manifold bracket....What!!!
Good thing I didn't buy that kit.
I very funny about stuff like that. I want to be able to return the car back to stock if I need to. Cutting the manifold support bracket sounds like a hack job!
I like the Euro sport Kit...a little pricey tho
FYI I made my own from copper pipe and fittings

It should be noted that many people have complained that the Eurosport installation instructions are very poorly written and hard to follow, something that Eric's installation kit doesn't seem to suffer from.

The Eurosport kit is by far the best conversion kit out there.

The kit I have came with a CD with a 35MB PDF file. Every steps have a picture (not a diagram) and it is one of the best installation manual I have seen.

So can someone please explain why the eurosport kit have those extra metal things on the bottom that KO and Eric's kit don't have.

I don't care for customer service at least they called me within 1 hour of me leaving a message and the kit is $375 shipped. How is the kit, did you have to fabricate anything or it came with everything needed with no vacuum leaks?

The eurosport kit allows you to reconnect everything in the stock OBD2 locations - Using the stock manifold plate and mounting for the ICV and PCV. The other kits just connect everything with hoses.
The Eurosport kit is really nice, but fairly pricey. Just depends on what you want to spend. They all accomplish the same thing (basically), they just go about it in different ways.

Thanks, this is probably going to make a lot more sense while I'm installing it. Can someone pm me Eric's work number or something, he still hasn't contacted me.

Why do you neeeeed (almost demanding tone) to talk to him so urgently? You can just order the kit off the website or join the ongoing group buy in the GB subforum.

^^I had a few questions that were answered by eurosport and I ended up ordering their install kit with no manifold.

Awesome that's what I heard. Just picked up a manifold in excellent condition at the salvage yard, it's got a little dirt inside, what's a best way to clean it completely so it's like new? I was thinking soaking it in simple green for a couple of days and then doing throttle body cleaner with pressure wash after, any other ideas? Also I noticed some sensor right of the throttle body with 2 prongs next to some vacuum valve, what exactly is that and is there one on my stock manifold that I can throw on the m50? I rather not use the old sensor and either buy a new one or reuse mine if possible.

I'll read that again, don't remember reading anything about it. What about cleaning it?
edit: just read it again, can't find it

I actually ordered the 3.5" samco hose from bimmerworld for the ASC delete and can't I just use the same sensor that's in my current manifold? I found a picture of how to modify it, seems like that's what you're doing/done.

Your OBDII IAT snaps right into the Eurosport kit. You can just reuse yours. One of the beauties of the kit. :D

Buy one (or two) of those cheap kitchen bottle/wine glasses brush. After soaking it in cleaner, just brush the inside of the runners. It will only take a few minutes per runner if they are not that dirty.

Another vote for the ES M50 Kit, I installed a KO Performance kit on my car and would not recommend it to anyone. Really crappy, instructions suck, quality is subpar and installing the kit really drew on my last nerves...

^^Good to know that, I almost pulled the trigger on the KO kit, good thing I didn't. Imo if a company is going to sell a kit, it better be bolt on, simple, no hassle and no fabrication. What's the point of a kit that you have to modify further and dick around with just to get it working.

Opinion stated. In the industry, who would you contest is better? The damn TS is a work or art from and engineering and design standpoint. No CAI can touch his design. M50 manifold kit is the most practical. I mean it turns the M50 into the M52 manifold. A plug and play as it gets.

So what dyno numbers are realistic to hope for after dinan stage 5 software with m50 mani, 3.5" dinan hfm, dinan bbtb, samco asc delete hose, dinan fpr, benfer 3.5" cai, uuc tse exhaust, evo sport power pulleys, and igntion solutions coils? I'm hoping for around 230rwhp :dunno
e36m3_858
04-25-2008, 02:10 AM
well if you wanna see 240 remove the bbtb/igntion coils/3.5" dinan hfm
and add some ebay headers and add 3" exhaust
Noooooooooo not the headers again :D
I'll probably get them but since I'm obdII isn't it a pain in the ass to install?
What's wrong with ignition coils and hfm and bbtb? Better than stock I would imagine.

Yeah you know what I've been thinking about that, I read it somewhere and was going to look into it. So they do in fact throw codes? Do they harm anything or just cause bad gas mileage, I dunno from what the company was saying that they add a few hp and torque without hurting anything :dunno

Its a conversion from OBDII to the OBDI manifold.. You will understand once you take your manifold off. :cool
