transmission fluid....?

so, i did the shift kit, as many know.... and now i notice the little grind sometimes in shifting. i should change the fluid.... to what? my mechanic says i gotta use the bmw stuff only.... is that true? is he old and crazy?

I put Royal Purple Synchromax in my car and wow what a difference! Shifts much smoother and no clunk like before. I also run Royal Purple in my diff. I hear Redline is good stuff too! Hope this helps!
