:( I need help finding this roundel. The picture is the one in the trunk and it's fading out. The one in the hood is worse. Everywhere I've look they have the silver outline and I would like to get another pair with the gold outline. Does anybody know who sells this kind. Thanks for all the help.
I would first think to look on eBay...

I've tried in ebay, pelican parts, bavauto and others. I can only find the standard roundel or overlays to change the color of the emblem but sadly no gold rim. The ETK only shows one part number and that is the standard roundel. Has anybody seen this type before.

I found one on Ebay about a week ago under the search of "BMW emblem" and on another in "BMW roundel." They didn't indicate it was gold in the title other than the picture and description.
Some more will soon pop up. Keep an eye out!
Or you could just go this route:

Tape it off and paint it.
+1, why pull your hair out when you could do it in 5 minutes.

I'm in the St Cloud area. I wonder if anybody else has this type of roundel. I can believe that it's that rare.

Well, I called both dealerships in Minneapolis and both agree that its and aftermarket part. Looks like i'm stuck searching through ebay.

If Motorwerks said it's after-market, then it's after-market. Those guys are good. Across my immediate family, we've gone through 8 BMW's through them, and we had not once been disappointed. Of course I'm down in Omaha now, but I make a point of stopping in Motorwerks for my free car wash whenever I'm up visiting the family.
+1 to the "just paint it" idea. That should be a pretty easy DIY, considering all the other things our E36's need to have done regularly.
