Picked up a clean set of E38 16" style 5s over the winter, and just got around to putting them on today (nice weather finally...) Thought I'd throw up a pic; definitely looks better than the stock 15" bottle caps, but I still have the original 235/60/16 tires on (just until Costco finally gets my 225/55/16 set). Geez they're huge - close to 2" diameter larger than the originals! Even with spacers I was sure they would still rub somewhere, but to my surprise they have not (yet). Should look a bit less cartoon-like with the new tires once I get em. Sure softened the ride up though!

I feel the same way! Love the meaty look rather than the thin square off look, don't get me started on the stretched look. Let us know if they rub later on.

Those are good-looking wheels.

Keep an eye on the inner side of the front wheels until you get the correct size tires. The suspension may be rubbing the outer edge of the inside of the front wheels especially when you turn with the 235/60/16 tires mounted.
I say that because I run those same wheels on my 95 Touring mounted with 225/55/16 winter tires...and they are REAL close to the front suspension...can't imagine a wider tire with a larger rolling diameter not at least occasionally rubbing.
Good luck. :)

Seem to recall that you don't run spacers though; do you? I put 3mm ones in, which is kinda thin but still allows the wheel to rest on the hub.

For some reason I think Freddie Mercury would've agreed.

I like that look too. It's cool how the rears are tucked because of the huge diameter.
