View Full Version : I wanna lower my 1991 535i whats the best thing to do? new springs heat cut??

I had a 1989 535i and it was already lowered when I got it and I loved it but had to sell it.Now I have a 1991 535i and the front is so high off the ground its rediculous.Ive heard about heating spring and cutting springs,what should I do the back is already low enough to me I think I just need the front lowered about 2"

If you want to cut them, and don't know how, bring it to a shop and have them do it. Otherwise, buy some lowering springs and install only the front. Lowtec offers front only springs.

oh yeah, to OP, get coilovers, or koni shocks with the GC coilover sleve, but thats about $1100 for both of those,

or just get some reg. lowering springs and experiment with a grinder!!

I just PM'd Mel at Abrahams Motorsport about the Lowtec springs.. here's what he said


I assume these are for an E34.
Fronts only are only available with these drops:
Front only 30MM
Front only 45MM

They are $159 a set and are special order only.
ETA will be mid to late May.
You have to buy the fronts and rears to get the 60mm drop.
Front/rear 60/20MM
Front/rear 60/30MM
Front/rear 60/40MM
These are $239 a set of 4 - also special order only.

He means that he has to put together an order from schmeidmann BMW http://www.schmiedmann.com/ and import them on one of his regular orders.
