I had planned on going over to Munich this summer to do ED, but project timelines keep changing and it looks like I won't be able to go this year now.

Not necessarily a bad thing though with the current exchange rate and current gas prices in Germany. (I'm trying to find a way to put a positive spin on this haha)

I'm looking at multiple options, the 328xi is in the lead at the moment. I'm also contemplating the 128i, 135i, G35x, C300 Sport 4matic and TT quattro.

With the 1 series now available and doing pretty well, I'm guessing I can get the best deal on the 328xi. How far from invoice do you think I can go?

How are these calculations for an '08 e90 328xi? 24 mos / 12k term.

MSRP: 37,325
Invoice: 34,650
Residual percentage: 71%
April MF: .00175
Residual value: 26,500
PA Tax: 6%

$1000 over invoice
Cap Cost: 35,650
...Monthly depreciation: $297.89
...Monthly interest: $108.76
...6% PA State tax: $24.40
......Total monthly payment: $431.05
.......................Total cost: 10,345.16

$750 over invoice
Cap Cost: 35,400
...Monthly depreciation: $287.47
...Monthly interest: $108.33
...6% PA State tax: $23.75
......Total monthly payment: $419.54
.......................Total cost: 10,069.16

$500 over invoice
Cap Cost: 35,150
...Monthly depreciation: $277.05
...Monthly interest: $107.89
...6% PA State tax: $23.10
......Total monthly payment: $408.04
.......................Total cost: 9,792.90

at invoice
Cap Cost: 34,650
...Monthly depreciation: $256.22
...Monthly interest: $107.01
...6% PA State tax: $21.79
......Total monthly payment: $385.03
.......................Total cost: 9,240.64

$500 under invoice
Cap Cost: 34,150
...Monthly depreciation: $235.39
...Monthly interest: $106.14
...6% PA State tax: $20.49
......Total monthly payment: $362.02
.......................Total cost: 8,688.38

Monthly depreciation calculated as (((Cap Cost-Down pmt) - Residual Value) / Term)

Monthly interest calculated as ((Cap Cost+Residual Value) * Money Factor)

State tax calculated as ((Depreciation + Interest) * 0.06)

So... How low do you think I can go? Also, were there any errors in my calculations? If my calculations are correct, I'll upload/host my leasing calculator spreadsheet that I made for everyone else to use. It's nothing flashy, but simple and to the point. It's easy to see the breakdown of every piece of the deal, but before I give it out I want to make sure my formulas are correct.

Any questions, let me know. Thanks!

Hey I remember this! You were contemplating the same thing a couple of months ago! Will you just pull the trigger already. Haha. Just joking :) SInce then I have taken delivery of my 328 e90 and love it!

Agreed that since the 1 series is so new, chances are you will pay a premium for it. I test drove all the other cars you are looking at. The C300 was nice, but felt heavy and sluggish compared to the 328 IMO. Also more expensive and the interior is not as nice. THe G35X is a rocket. Lacked the refinement and fit & finish of the german though. And the TT - great car but a coupe, so different class then a 4 door obviously.

On my car I put 2500 down total. Total mon pymt including taxes is 500. And I am doing a 3 year 15K miles per year lease.

I got a low Money factor too. With that April one, I would say negotiate to your liking and pull the trigger! What options are you assuming? Keep us posted and good luck

Oh yea, after I calculated, I was about 400 over invoice when all said and done.

Haha yeah.. A couple months ago I was totally set on doing European Delivery. Now that some major project timelines have changed, I won't be able to do that.

My local dealer has an e90 XI on the lot that I'm pretty interested in. I was going to go talk numbers with them today, but I couldn't pull myself away from the Yankees/Red Sox game. (Especially with it being in Boston and Beckett pitching lol) ... I'll check with them Monday. If they can make the numbers right, I'd be ready to sign this week. I took pics from when I went to test drive the new 1 series, including some of the 328xi, ///M3, ///M5 and Z4. (The last 3 I didn't test drive, but I got some decent showroom pics)

I'll make another thread later and post those there..

If they offer me $500 over invoice this week, it's a done deal. :D

How long does it usually take after the paperwork is signed if the car is already on the lot? All of my research before had been for scenarios if I did a custom order.

The one they had in stock had a beige interior, but I kinda wanted black. The beige isn't horrible, but I would definitely prefer black. It's not a deal breaker though, as long as the numbers are good enough.

Manny just went yard.

So what options does the 328xi have that you are looking at? MSRP/Invoice?

for my last car (which was on the lot) it took them about a week to deliver after I finished signing. My bimmer I ordered. I have beige. Its really appealing to me, but just takes a little more effort to keep clean than black!

Yeah that was sweet. I forgot you were from Boston haha...

Ideally, I'd be looking at Steptronic/CWP/Xenons/Logic 7/HD Radio/Bluetooth. Maybe including Park Distance and the iPod option. I currently have a subscription with Sirius, and don't have an iPod at the moment, but I'd consider getting one. I was originally planning on the ZSP, but I wasn't a big fan of the sport seats when I test drove one. I think they'd bother my back on longer trips, so I've scratched that off my plan.

Gotta go with ZSP. Worth it for the seats alone + the wheels! IMO the sports seats are comfy and supportive.

The only thing that does not impress me with this car is the standard stereo system. Other than that, life could not be better!

Yeah.. The stereo system I currently have is phenomenal, so I'd prefer if Logic7 & HD Radio were included.

psucelticXI , we will have to start charging you for leasing advice. Would you buy a BMW already. I kid, but seriously, you need to pull the trigger, it is just a car and some money. I hate to see what you'll do when it comes to getting married! Talk about having problems committing :stickoutt.

:rofl ... Well, I haven't gotten a straight answer yet on if my calculations from the spreadsheet are all correct yet. I have 3 spreadsheets and they all seem to produce slightly different end results with the same starting figures.

hahaha... Maybe that's why I've been single for quite some time now.. :shifty

Besides all that, I'm looking specifically for a Montego Blue XI and I wouldn't consider any other color. They're hard to come by in this area, and the local dealer actually has one. So there, I'm committed to one thing at least, maybe there's hope for me yet haha.

I'm going to talk to them on Monday or Tuesday... If the numbers are right, it's a deal. If they aren't, I'll just take my business elsewhere and do a custom order. (It'd have to be custom since I can almost guarantee the other dealerships in this general area won't have any Montego Blue XIs...)

Just to let you know if you are leasing, Pa tax is 9% on leases. It is added to your monthly payment. So take your monthly payment times 1.09 and you will have your total. I think it is BS that our state tax is 6% yet they charge 9% on a lease but that's what it is. My new 335i should be here in a few weeks. Good luck.

That will be $10 before we tell you. LOL. JK

I'm not sure if those numbers are correct or not, but I know there is a leasing calculator that you can find if you search it on this forum or google. The numbers I provided above should give you a pretty good idea on what you should be paying. (my car was $40,770 MSRP, sale price was $38,770.) Check out the true market value report on Edmunds.com. Get the invoice, get the MSRP, and then go in there and make a deal!
