Search didn't really help.
I just picked up a 95 540. Hit one of the memory switches and the mirrors power folded in. Haven't been able to duplicate since. Was I hallucinating? :dunno Owner's manual doesn't mention this.
Great car BTW, always been an e34 fan.

ditto...the e34 didn't have power "FOLDING" mirrors...but it does have electric mirrors that allows each mirror glass to be adjusted...and if you create a memory setting...the mirrors as well as the seat will move back to that setting when the button is pressed.
Some owners have been known to create a memory setting that moves both mirrors downward to look at the curb (just like the auto dipping feature that's already programmed into the passenger side mirror when REVERSE is chosen)...then will leave the auto dipping feature off. They use it for like backing into their garage...and will hit whichever memory button they set when they want the mirrors to dip.
If for some reason you have an upgraded/modded mirror...the E38s that actually have power folding mirrors...the button to initiate folding is a small square button right next to the sliding button that lets you choose which mirror you want to adjust.

Thanks but I SWEAR to GOD the mirrors "folded" inward. I understand the reverse option on the PAX side and that works fine. No button like the e38. Oh well, I might have been whacked.....

E39 autodimming mirrors have power folding aswell. Though of replacing E34 mirrors with those. Should be okay, after all they're really similar to E34's facelift mirrors
Although i'm not sure, how to get the seat memory working
The e39 m5;s do it as well.
