for those who want a monster tune with warranty

Wish I had the loot for that. :(
I see now that my engineering instincts were dead on. In this day and age the ECU does a lot more than what people think, especially when we are talking about the most technologically advanced production engine in the world (yes, THE MOST). So when that juicebox came out with a resistor box I thought: nah, this is for boy ricers that haven't even taken a calculus course. When I saw Vinshu's I thought, yes, this is impressive HP and Torque, but it came out too quickly after the 335i went into production for the first time. Besides, where are the credentials of these people? I'd like a scientific approach to tuning. I'd like engineers with more pedigree than brawn. Besides, when you hear their advertisement solely based on how much HP, how much TQ, etc, my head starts to scream: "ricers! run away from that ghetto!"
I am glad Dinan has stepped up to clean this mess.
With the full set of Dinan upgrades for the 335i there is no point buying an M3 anymore.

These are values at the flywheel not the rear wheels.

So? How much torque do you think it will have at the rear wheel? 370 TQ?? ROFLMAO!

14% loss with manual 16% loss with auto. Other tunes out there putting down more power for a whole lot less $$$. Just to make clear that number posted are flywheel to the prosepective buyer. Other tunes quote whp/tq so you get a apples to apples comparison.

You go with the ghetto tunes. I would much rather trust a $50k piece of engineering to a reputable house like Dinan who carries a warranty than to trust any boy racer who thinks he understands tuning (Procede or juicebox). Besides, it is not just a matter of raw power but driveability, throttle response, etc, more subtle factors that weighs in the refinement equation just as heavily as power.

did i mis-understand that artical I thought it was just a s2 package and it is the same tune as before but you get more hp b/c of the added intercooler and exhaust, ext.

You are obviously making assumptions of which you no very little about. Take your Dinan flash and be happy. Not my point! Dinan is advertising flywheel HP not rear wheel. Out..

I'm sure they're willing to make some more $. Hopefully they'll allow you to upgrade for the difference in price only.

:rolleyes You seem to have no background knowledge of either tuner. Have you used the Procede at all? Vishnu also does tunes for Porsche, Subaru and Mitsubishi. Procede 335's are out there reliably making over 400 ft.lbs at the wheels. If you feel like paying more for less then go ahead. PS, if BMW NA wants to void your warranty, they'll find a way regardless of Dinan or not. If you want a Dinan then go ahead. Im not knocking their engineering, but just because they so expensive doesn't mean their product is better, or the other guys dont know what they are doing.

Oh really? Where is Shiv's quality assurance data showing the mean failure rate of engine parts, like the turbos, for at least a few N54 engines? Where is Shiv's data backing up his claim that despite making 100 more HP the engine is miraculously consuming 4 mpg less fuel? Where is Terry's data showing juicebox's engine knock rate under heavy loads, etc?
Where is the data to back up your claims heh? Dinan can show you that data, but it is not necessary because they have stood by their products for years. Shiv himself said: use it at your own risk. Are you going to risk it just to save what amounts to 2% of the car's total price?

For the potential to make more power and have the ability to dial up and down torque ratings to optimize the tune for the specific car with the specific mods . . . hell yes I'd risk it. I suppose running the procede requires a pair . . . but if you want to cozy up with Dinan by all means go for it. I dont mind slower 335's on the road.

So you feel manly because you risk blowing up your engine? Nice...

You have a false sense of security if you think your Dinan tune is 100% safe. Any time you make and engine do more than was initially asked you are risking failure.
And yeah . . . I feel manly :alright

Not really. The mean failure rate increases with boost pressure and other load conditions in a nonlinear way. So if you KNOW how to tune you can get the engine to sing your song without risking much, but if you go overboard, even if just by a little, you increase risk severalfold. This is what Dinan has done and this is what you fail to see.
Shiv also fails to see this. Pushing the engine to its limits, like he has done (400HP+) will test every engine component to its tolerance limits. Experts point towards the small Mitsubishi turbos as the likely ones to give up rather early (< 100k miles). But if you back off a little (384 HP like Dinan did) and sub out some of the weak points in the engine (like a better oil cooler), you are good to go.
I'd suggest you at least trust people who know what they are doing since you obviously don't.

Obviously . . . :eyecrazy
Go get the Dinan and be happy. You're too elite for those of us in the Procede crowd. PM me your address and we'll send you a complimentary tube of KY for when you go to purchase your Dinan and their oil cooler. And then save some for when you go head to head with a Procede tune. :devillook
