Opened up the engine for the first time

I had a slightly leaky valve cover gasket so I decided to replace it this weekend. First time my engine has been opened since it was built. To my surprise, it's like new! Everything is shiny and there wasn't any signs of wear or sludge :redspot I bought the car at 95k miles and switched her to synthetic oil. I have over 150k miles on the motor now. Cams were nice and polished with no scoring at all.

Under my ownership, I've only used Mobil 1 0w40 and Motul 5w40. I just started using Amsoil 5w40.

nice. how long did it take you to fix?

It took me about an hour, but I also did a compression test.
I got 195 to 200 on all the cylinders while the engine was still warm :)

i did a valve cover gasket change as well a while back...

My 92 M50 non vanos insides with 248k look cleaner lol...

but there were a few gunk deposites in the small goves in places.
