haunted gas needle

so about 20 mins ago I was driving down the street and I saw my gas needle fall from half tank to empty. So I went to the gas station thinking I just saw wrong. After putting 20$ in, the needle remained at empty. I turned the car off then back on again. Full tank. What gasoline ghost is haunting my needle?

You probably need a new sending unit.

this started happening to my car then the whole cluster went nuts turned out it was shorted out. of course had to get it done at the dealer. i hope its just the sender unit thats going screwy it, but it wouldnt hurt to watch the cluster

how much will the sending unit fix be? And the cluster?

the cluster was spendy i dont remember the exact price never had the sending unit fail so i dont know look it up on realoem.com
