my tranny is really staring to act up and its either get another car or put a tranny in it. i dont really want to buy another car because mine has grown on me.... unless its an e38.
does anyone have a tranny for a sale cheap.... also what model is my tranny and what other trannys will work from other cars?

You have a 5HP30. Only used on M60-based cars. The M62 and later cars use the 5HP24, which won't work due to electrical differences and size differences.
You may have to do a rebuild since the units are in fairly short supply. All I can say about that is don't go with Phoenix Transmissions, so far they have been utter rubbish, both their rebuild and their customer service. Kurt Koeller of AutoSport Unlimited has a great reputation.

thanx for your help. i was thinking of rebuilding it but the worst part is that i dont really have the time or the place to do it.

Even a rebuilt kit for the car is ~500$ at the best, so realistically, you are saving perhaps 2.5k, but there isn't a warranty on your own work. Given how touchy the newer (post 4HP22) ZF boxes are, I'd be tempted to just send it off.
