Up for sale is my wife's M3. It was mine for a few months, and she loved it so much... I had to buy another one for myself. Mechanically the car is very sound, it drives better than the "Best handling car in the world" (which it was voted in 1995) due to the extensive suspension modifications. I will take it to any mechanic to have it checked out for you (within reasonable distance from West LA 90034). I have all the receipts from all the mods that were done by Active Autowerke in Miami (one of the best in the country). It has:
1. Hi flow intake plenum from a 540.
2. AA (Active Autowerke) Upgraded custom chip.
3. AA cold air box with K&N filter.
4. Hi flow injectors.
5. AA 3" mandrel bent stainless exhaust from the header back(polished and one of the best sounding exhausts that I have ever heard on a six cylinder car) .
6. Strut tower camber plates.
7. Rear adjustable camber control arms.
8. Koni adjustable dampers.
9. Matched springs (Eibach or King... I cannot remember).
10. Lightened flywheel.
11. AA Shifter with short-throw kit.
12. Carbon Fiber hood.
13. More stuff including Euro lights, code reader, manual, extra set of the same wheels.
This is one of the last great M3's, with no traction control, active suspension, electric seats and a host of other options that ad significant weight and enable poor drivers to control the car. It still has ABS and air-bags.
I have priced the car cheaply and I am selling the entire car for less money than was spent on the upgrades!
Now for the things wrong with the car:
1. The only thing wrong mechanically with the car is that is has the common problem of occasional noisy lifters, which does not hamper the performance, but does annoy me from time to time.
The rest of the negatives are entirely aesthetic:
2. Dent in the driver's front fender, above the wheel.
3. Two dents in the driver's door.
4. Clear coat flaking from plastic parts (mirrors, rear bumper and side skirts)
5. Scratch down the driver's side of the car.
6. Tiny rip in the leather on the passenger's seat (it has been there for two years and has not gotten any worse)
7. Tiny piece of plastic has broken of the front lip on the passenger's corner
Like I said, almost all things wrong with the car (aside from occasional tappet noise) can be fixed with panel work and a coat of paint. The car has just over 120,000 miles.
The car has a new roof liner. It has the on board computer. The sunroof works great, but rarely used.
One other important note is that the car is registered in FL, where a catalytic converter is not required. It will not pass a CA smog test, unless fitted with a 3" hi-flow cat (about $300 installed).
I have probably forgotten many things, but I will try to update this, as I remember. The car will soon be listed on ebay, with a reserve of $5,900. I am starting the negotiations by asking for $7,900.
I cannot post pics or urls from a lack of posts, but email me and I will be happy to answer any questions and provide a link with all the photos.
You can call me on 775 343 5043. East coaster's please remember that I am three hours behind you. The car is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
