I can get you Pagid or Mintex pads for about 30% off. The Mintex are super nice racing pads and the Pagids are less spending and pretty good autocross/driver's school pads...PM me if you are interested.

The Hawk pad is a serious pad made for racing or at least 8/10th driving. They will damage uncleared alum wheels if not cleaned after the event. These will offer the BEST braking that you can get for your car but you will want to take them off after the event. These pads cost $175 a set. They are a ton better than the mintex or pagid pads but again, what are you looking for. If you are new to drivers schools, you may want to talk to mechanicmasters for the other options. The mintex or pagid are usually pretty good for drivers schools but I would never put them on my M3 racecar and do a race. I put pagid pads on my wifes M3/4 for drivers schools and they are great. Also, I have bought and sold several items (through ebay) to Cara at mechanicmasters and they are a very reputable establishnent. As far as the rear pads, I have a slightly used set of hawks for the rear that I will sell for $50 additional if you are interested. You can mix and match street pads, no problem, but you will want to use full race pads on both ends if this is what you are looking for. Thanks!

I have a set of rear M3 Porterfield R4S pads that are brand new, unused in the box.
I accidentally purchased a dup set and will sell them for $59 plus shipping.
You'd need to get fronts from another source.

If you do track days you'll burn up any street pad before the days out. Hawk blues are a great track pad and are used extensively in SCCA and speed challenge. You can also try the HT-10's which have a great temp range and seem to be better on rotors than the blue. I see a lot of racers switching to the HT-10, especially for BMW's. There's also the Ferodo DS3000 which is another world class race compound.
www.raceshopper.com has both as well as others.
BTW-Always switch back to street pads before leaving the track, or you may not have any rotors when you get home.

R4S pads are, in Porterfield's words:
" R-4 S: Street High-performance & Limited Competition
The high performance street pad of choice. Very high friction level even at cold temperatures. "
I have heard them described as suitable for driving schools but not racing at tracks- it would of course depend on the track, what tires you are running, and any HP increase you have. I've used the compound with very good results at high speed (occasional 3rd gear) autoX events at Qualcom Stadium in my RX7 on Yoko A032Rs.
The R4 is their "full race" compound.
Their price is $79 for the rear set. I will only charge actual UPS charges, no handling BS, if you are interested.

Mark,
I might be interested in the Hawk Blue pads.
Just to confirm, that was that $100 for 2 front sets and $50 for the rear set?
How used is "slightly"?

Jeff - do not use the blues for anything other than on the track, they will destroy your rotors in a few hundred miles of street driving.
Get ahold of Andie at Cobalt Friction 877-562-9237, he is not only a supporting vendor that helps bring you this site for free, he has THE best prices on brake components and has a wealth of brake knowledge to offer.
Hope that helps,
Alex

I believe there are several things to consider, including, but not limited to, when se
(1) driver skill level/experience
(2) setup of the car (tires, suspension, weight)
(3) the layout of the track being driven (minor)
(3) environmental conditions (e.g. ambient temp. - minor)
(4) how important is your wheel and paint finish(es) -- are you using a dedicated set of track wheels where the appearance of the finish is not particularly important to you?
For a stock/street M-Coupe/M3 using a "max performance" (e.g. Michelin Pilot Sport, Bridgestone S-03, etc.) on the track, the following are products I would recommend depending on the answers to (1) through (4):
COBALT GT-R.SPEC(VR)
HAWK HT-10
FERODO DS3000
If you are a novice driver with the above stock/street setup, then possibilities are:
COBALT GT-SPORT
HAWK HP PLUS
AXXIS ULTIMATE
FERODO DS2500
While it takes some time initially, I do prefer to speak with people over the telephone to determine what the best possible solution for their application really is -- I find that a detailed answer/question "session" pays off in spades, ensuring that the customer receives a product which performs as closely as possible to their expectations, etc.
