It's an '87 635 w/ 100k on the clock. The car is pretty dirty, but straight so I'll have to put in lots of elbow grease to clean her up. I need to buff out the paint, clean and condition the leather, find a replacement sunroof cassette, ... The motor and 5 spd should be coming out soon and the M90 w/ close ratio from the rusty beast will be installed in its place. The RD 17s will transfer over, but unfortunately, my suspension pieces will not.:( Then I'll have to get new struts and spring and better brake pads.
Race track here I come. The Beast is back!:alright

Lovely, I have an '84 633, 5spd.
I use her as a DD, she's getting her 134A conversion done as I type this. 134K on her clock.
Refresh my mem on the M90?? (they have too many damn numbers for me to keep up With.)
I've been thinking about dropping one of the Korman Turbo units into her, the ones they put on the old M30's in the &45's they made back in the mid 80's.

The M90 is a euro 3.5 motor, known as the big 3.5. It's displacement is 3453cc, same as the M6 motor. Stock it had 218 hp/224 tq. However, compression has been upped on my car, heads milled and displacement increased to 3.7 liters. The motor runs headers into a straight pipe and a muffler, no cat. It's a fun car and it outruns M6s.

THank you for the refresher, I knew it was one of the M30 variants, but couldn't remember which one (again, here too damn many)
I bet it outruns M6's, when our M30's are bored or stroked to 3.7, they pump about 270 hp or so, easily taking most of the M's unless they are modded hevily.
I'm thinking about a 6er as a tracker if I can find a beater after I finish my restoration on the '84. (either that or an E21 or 30, but I like the prospect of the big 6 in a car better than the M20 or it's variants, I know Alpina, etc did some, but those were real tight squeezes (and hard to find to boot)
On a side note, what R U gonna do W/ the 186? hp slug out of the 87? (really not a slug, but compared to the M90 yur dropping in it will be)
Did you originally have a euro car W/ the dogleg? or did you junkyard the block and tranny? (again, here curious about the dogleg)

Yep, I have a rustbucket '79 635 from Europe with the iron oxide. It has the CR 5 spd and it was a track car. The new car will be pulling street/track duties. Unfortunately, my Racing Dynamic suspension cannot transfer over as pre '83 E24s were based on the E12 chassis while the '83+ cars on the E28 chassis. I will however transfer the 17" RD RGPs.
As for the M30, I'll probably sell it with the OD tranny.

Stock M6s. :D
Seriously BM, it sounds like the new car is going to rock. The E28 based suspension is better and has a few more upgrade options out there.
Good luck with the new Beast.

There was some guy at the SE sharkfest W/ a twin turbo dinan M6 set up, that thing was a killer.)
Everyone says the E12 based E24's are easier to tweak and track, esp. the suspension, But I still like my E28 based 6er.
(I'd love to find a dogleg somewhere...)

The E12 based E24s may be easier to track and tweak, but parts availability is another story.
I'm sure you can find a CR somewhere out there. If you do, they have great low end grunt, then the revs will drop off in 4th.

I attended SE Sharkfest and absolutely recall the twin turbo M6, (a white car) but the owner's name escapes me right now. Clay ?
there is another guy running a twin turbo on an M30 engine - goes by "Sweeney" and can be found on the Roadfly board. Very helpful and knowledgeable...
Congrats on the purchase Bryan ! Was this example already on the island, or did you have to bring it over from the mainland ?
We sort of dropped the ball on the 3.07 diff. after you revealed it was not a LS. Are you willing to let it go on the cheap ?

I'm willing to let it go, but I still don't think it's worth your while to ship it to Kansas. The shocks are Bilsteins (probably sports)springs and rear sway bar is RD, front sway bar is @26mm, but it's black! Don't know who makes that one, it may be RD as the whole car was RD equipped (springs, rear sway bar, strut bar, body kit, RGP 17s, mats)
