my windows on my 335i come down half way when I get in and then fully close, it's like there set to do that? read the manual but unsure, its really annoying, especially as I just had the windows tinted today and there not supposed to be down for 2 days, would love some help!

Is yours a coupe? Yeap it's normal. Park your car outside in a sunny day after you get your tint to help the tint cure faster

I don't know if there's a setting - but I have an 08 335i coupe and my windows definitely do NOT come half-way down upon opening. They come down a half-inch or so when opening, then close when the door closes. I assume to help reduce wear on the door seal.
Anyway - mine does not come half-way down.

If I am not mistaken, they do that so that when shut they won't break. They go up after closing the door so that they provide maximum insulation and sound isolation. I believe most high end coupes do that, but for sure BMW has been doing that since at least the e36 I believe.

I know in my old E36 coupe there was a way to reset where the window stopped and started just by doing a sequence with the electric window controls. You might want to hit up the owners manual to see if the 335 has the same thing.
The window should not come halfway down, it should only lower about an inch or so in the coupe. They do this so that you get a good seal after you shut the door since there is no frame on the upper part of the window.

I believe the OP was exaggerating when he said half way down, but only he can elaborate on that.

Yeah, it's more like half an inch, not half way down/ And yes, it is supposed to do that. You probably haven't noticed that you don't have a frame on top of you door window yet. If you look at it, you will see why it does what it does.

Wow, guess I learn something every day.
I thought it was a vert thing (my friends SLK350 also does it), but now that you guys mention it, I remember another friends C6 Vette (non-vert) doing it as well. All of these cars were coupes.
Anyone know why is it that coupes do this, but sedans don't have to? Does it have anything to do with the extra large side windows or the large door or something of that sort? Or am I completely mistaken and some sedans do this as well (although I've never seen one that does)?

It has to do with the lack of metal frame around the windows, which means the windows can't go all the way up and squeeze firmly against the rubber until after the door is closed. Not all coupes do that since not all lack the metal frame around the window. My previous e36 (318ti hatch back) was a "coupe" per se (2 doors, well 3, anyway) but it had metal frame around the window. Hope that clears it out.

Ah, that does clear it up. I never really payed enough attention before to notice the lack of a metal frame. Makes complete sense now! :)
