hi guys,
really need some in put here, been hearing a noise coming from my exhaust for about a few months and found that my cat was really loose and not even connected either end and had rattling inside.
so....... i got a new cat from euro car parts and fitted it today, along with new gasgets etc with fitting kit but now it sounds even worse!!!!!
on acceleration my exhaust sounds really tinny from under my seat (spose the cat), now im guessing this is because as its new and clean but im not sure, is this normal and needs wearing in or have i bought a dud cat????? :help

As long as the cat doesn't rattle then that is the trade off from getting a cheap cat. You should really chase up why the old one failed as you might kill the new one prematurely. Was the cat £140ish?

Just replaced mine and just sounds normal, but does stink abit.
Did you check the other parts of your exhaust as they could be damaged and mite be making the nosie

the cat was £200. one from bmw was £700, so you think its just a cheap cat??

If the old cat was rattling from the inside then it means the catalyst monolith has broken up/failed, Hence why you should find the reason for said failure, get the codes read to be on the safe side.
If you were to put the old cat back on the broken monolith could clog the exhaust and slow your car down.
