I'm trying to get a new 2008 BMW 328i.
Unfortunately, no dealer has exact same car that I want. So, I have to order one and wait for 6~8 weeks.
------------------
MSRP: 37,450
Invoice: 34,520
-----------------
I emailed 4 dealers from my area.
The best offer I got is $35,450

1. Is this a good deal?

2. I'm sorry to ask this dumb question......(sorry....my second time buying a car)
I haven't decided if I want lease or financing.
After I get final offer, what more informations do I need to get from dealer?

3. To order a car from Germany, how much deposit do I need to pay usually?

thanks very much for your help......

Not enough information. What color, options and accessories are you considering?

For a ballpark idea, you can go to the BMW website and build your own car and get a reasonable, before-salestax estimate.

930 over invoice is good, but you can do better. See if you can get closer to 500 over invoice.

Lease if you dont plan to drive over a certain amount per year, or you just want to be done with the car after the term. Buy is you drive alot, and plan to hold onto it for longer than 3 years.

deposit depends on dealer, most require some $$ but it may range from 500$ to a couple of thousands, again depends on dealer. Doesn't really matter if you have some spare cash since you can get that money back anytime or you end up using it as cap-cost reduction/downpayment.

Assuming your data is accurate, you are paying less than 3% above invoice, which is a good deal. Finance vs. lease cannot be answered without further info. My deposit to order was $1000, fullly refundable if I wanted to back out at the last minute.

1) Depends on your threshhold for negotiating. $2000 off MSRP is a decent deal no matter what anyone says. Might not be the *best* deal, but you're in pretty good shape there.

2) If leasing, ask them the money factor, acq fee, residual, miles, and any maco/training fees. You can post them here and someone can tell you if they are inflating anything that they shouldn't.

3) My dealer required $1000 deposit to order. Deposits in the US are fully refundable no matter what they say, so don't worry about that.

$500-$1000 Deposit usually required but as said before totally refundable or applied to down payment. $500 was required to order my 1 series.

If it's the sedan, I've had dealers around here tell me they can do $300 over invoice.

Ofcourse, the BMW dealers here are high volume so they can make up for it in numbers and I didn't follow through (wanted the convertible, not the sedan) so the guy could have been spouting out bologna since he knew I didn't want one.

Truth is, high volume dealers probably would do 300 over invoice. (on certain cars) On my sedan, I paid a few hundred over invoice.

My new 335i (waiting for shipment) was $44200 MSRP, and according to KBB, $40680 invoice. The dealer showed me the "real" invoice included required advertising fee and was more in the range of $41200. They won't budge more than $1600 off MSRP. $2000 off is a good deal, IMO. You can't worry about 2-3 hundred IMO.
