hey, i got the ellipsoids but i didnt get the city lights installed. i decided ill do it myself. i want to have the city lights work as well as my parking lights though. anyone know what instructions to do ? or what link to look at ? also what type of bulb is the city light ? it is possible to get a little higher wattage/hiper white bulb in there ?!

also my right lowbeam xenon HID isnt working. its not the fuse and not the bulb. and the wiring harness is ok ... so its something where it gets HIGH voltage. any ideas on what to check for ?

oooo im excited. i can make my lights look cool ... instead of pimpin a beamer with 1 headlight ...

thanks in advance

My right one goes out sometimes. The fuse is not broken but I have to pop them out and put them back in and then everything is ok...weird!

Zippy, have you checked for dirty or corroded fuse contacts?

also do i need the wire tap connectors for this ?? i had my mechanic install it a while back and he probably threw them out ? do i need them for city lights ? where can i get some extras ?

also can some1 tell me what wire to do what to ... if i want both the parking lights and city lights to light up ... i split the wire and fork it to 2 places right ?

Changster,

You can buy the taps at any hardware store. Get the ones for 18 gauge wires. Also, what you want to do is tap the gray wire (in your ellipsoid assembly) into the hot wire going into your parking light bulb. Very straightforward. If you need help, there are directions on www.bmw-m.net under Tech Procedures.

Oh, and yeah, you can get superwhite bulbs to replace the factory city-light bulbs. I think they're the small 12v ones and they're fairly common. Just take yours out, go to any import store that sells bulbs and ask for one. Should be like $10.

You do not want to leave the cover open or you will get moisture inside the lenses. You'll have to use a dremel to make two small hole (make them a small so that the two wire fits tight) in the edge so that you can close the cover.

Stylin, try this link. It may answer your question.

I just dremeled a hole for the back of the bulb connector and a slit out the side for the wiring. Ive had my xenons for 2 years now.. they were way before these H1 and 9006 HID kits came out. They are a direct pull from a 5 series. Mine even have an ignitor..!! So the bulb+connector doesnt fit with the cover closed. So I had to dremel a big hole in the cover and I taped everything shut. No choice here. :(
