Should I buy this???????
http://www.autoconsortium.com

go to inventory and click on 2000 528i

This car has NO warranty! Ive talked to 6 or 7 techs and sales people that said BUY IT! I should expect small problems like any other car with 50k miles but nothing major.

I had BMW check the VIN and its been properly maintained by BMW and has had no problems.

It is due for it's 4th inspection and the seller is doing it before my scheduled pick up of 4/10. He is also replacing a blower for the AC and a sticky throttle body.

Performance Upgrades????

I would also want to convert to HID/Angel Eyes, anyone know how much $$$$????

Can I buy clear side markers????? yellow ones gotta go!

Or should I get a 99/55k miles and a 45k/1.5 year certified BMW warranty.

But its an automatic.

What do you guys think? All replies appreciated!

Thanks!

Looks great except manual is a lot more fun/enjoying to drive. You can always put a manual tranny in it down the line too though :)

But besides that point it looks great:clap:

Thanks man! I want the manual but the warranty is def. a turn on.

Hard to decide.

The 99/auto is in Cali so I would have to pay to have it shipped.

the 2000 is a manual/no warranty

the 1999 is an auto/45k or 1.5 years

you can find a better deal, hit up ebay. There are alot of 2000's on there with the sports package (firmer suspension, m5 steering wheel, etc)

-have the car inspected by a good bmw mechanic before you negotiate the price. that way, you can work repair costs into the purchase price.

-if the car has been taken care of, i wouldn't worry about the warranty too much.

-if you are interested in performance, a 528i is not going to be a good choice. a 540i would be a much better choice.

-i think bekker's offers the HID/angel eyes upgrade. there are other sources out there, so check around.

Not a bad deal, here in my area, at the bmw auctions, 00 528's with sport package, auto, are going from 17-20k with 50k miles. It's unbelievable how low they were going, low book was 24 or 25k btw.

My father-in-law picked up a '97 528 w/ 60k for 17k a couple of years ago on E-bay...

As far as upgrading lights...

You'll want the CELIS lights in the rears for ~$300 and the HIDs will set you back another $1100..

EDIT - Maint. has been decent. Only replaced the water pump...BMW 6's run forever...

IMHO -- keep searching. Decide on what you want, the criteria in order of importance and stick to it. If you are ambivalent about auto, don't even consider it. Pass it up. I would also consider a 540i sport ... super fast, super fun, super nice.

www.warrantygold.com ... also check with aftermarket warranties. Warranty gold has a great reputation. In fact, some members on here used them to replace the tranny (e36 issue) with no problem where the dealership put up a bitch in some cases.

Don't be impatient, this economy is not turning around anytime soon. People are selling things pretty cheap ... just be patient ... and do not be impulsive. Honestly a 99 or 2000 with more than 40K I would not purchase. That's just me. My car is a 99 and has less than 30K on the clock.

There are many cars like that out there. The reason why I say 50K or 55K is to much, you will get hit with Inspection II which is NOT cheap. 40K and below, you have a year or two before inspection II; plus, inspection I would have recently been done then.

That's my logic for suggesting what I am ... good luck

Thanks for the replies guys, The 2000 528i, the dealership that I checked the Vin with said its due for inspection 4 and the seller said he's doing that now.

I cant find a 540 w/ less than 70k within my 25k budget.
