I know there have been people on this forum that stated they were going to use all season tires instead of using snow tires. I was curious if you were pleased with the results? Did they perform as expected?

In particular the Eagle F1 AS...

I'm using the ContiExtremeContacts, mostly because Consumer Reports stated that they are as good on snow/ice as the dedicated winters they used.

I found that this was true, for the first 50% of the tread (yes, I have my rears down to 6/32nds that quickly). After that, there really isn't enough void area in the tire for DEEP snow. Of course, even running a real open-design snow tire in DEEP snow past 6/32nds isn't recommended, but these were much worse than the similarly worn Pirelli Snowsports on my mom's E46.

That said, the dry/wet performance was much better than a regular winter tire. Made for fun drives during the 90% of the time where the roads are plowed. Still, I think I'll go back to a performance winter tire next time.

Just my $0.02.

Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D. They are Performance Winter tires and are absolutely amazing when it comes to all around performance. They do amazing in snow, ice and dry and wet conditions. Its like a super all-season tire. I had them on my previous car all year and they were amazing. You should look into them on tirerack

Got a set of Dunlop Snows on the rear, works just fine.
