Will I void my 4/50 new BMW warranty if I install any of the following aftermarket products NOT by my BMW dealership?
1. in-dash Sirius radio & Navi
2. remote start
3. alarm system
Also, does anyone know if I order my new '08 Z4 with Sirius & navigation system, can I take advantage of the Sirium realtime traffic service? by this I obviously don't mean the radio channel with audio traffic reports, but an extra-cost subscription service from Sirius where I get a realtime traffic signal that is picked up by my navi and displays traffic info & reroutes me automatically around areas of heavy congestion? I believe there are aftermarket combos that will do this, but I'd really prefer to have it as original equipment.
thanks

By law aftermarket parts only void warranties on items they are proven to have caused to fail. Your Sirius radio could potentially void the warranty on your speakers for example...

i don't think sirius has realtime traffic. my understanding of real time traffic is thru the use of a nav system such as TomTom or Garmin. sirius is satellite radio. i have sirius but not BMW nav. your dealer should be able to explain the finer points of BMW nav.
whatever you do don't install sandbags to lower your car. that will certainly void your warranty.

See the sirius website/traffic (I don't seem to be able to post URLs) for full description.
Section about aftermarket stuff: Aftermarket navigation systems that are compatible with SIRIUS Traffic are available from Alpine and Eclipse.
The Alpine system requires the SIRIUS SIR-ALP10T SIRIUS Satellite Radio plus traffic tuner and the Alpine NVE-N872A navigation system with a monitor. The SIR-ALP10T is distributed through Directed Electronics. The NVE-N872A is available through Authorized Alpine Dealers nationwide.
The Eclipse system requires the SIRIUS SIR-ECL2nt and the Eclipse AVN6610 Audio, Video Navigation system. Both items are available through authorized Eclipse dealers
SIRIUS Traffic systems will soon be compatible with other vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket partners.

the first answer you got was correct. By law no aftermarket part can void your warrenty UNLESS it can be proven to have caused the problem..
For instance, if you go in for a suspension failure, they will probably void your warrenty for having larger and wider wheels and tyres, but not if you are running aftermarket rims with stock size tyres.
