View Full Version : Radio is DEAD

I have searched and found similar threads but no real fixes found.

A few days ago my radio stopped working, as in no sound and unable to change/view/ change modes and radio stations. That red light next to the volume knob is off and won't turn on by pressing the volume knob.

I have stock NAV system (4:3) with the television option. The NAV and television also have no sound. I checked the fuses related to the radio (25/43/44) in the glove box and they are not blown.

The NAV screen and controls are working properly. Every menu control works with the exception of the radio controls/modes.

I went as far as checking every fuse in my car both in the glove box and trunk, they are all working fine.

Some threads mentioned it might be the ignition switch and to use the visor light to test it  I still don't know how that would test the ignition switch but it didn't not work.

Short of replacing the NAV head unit I am out of ideas.. I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this issue.

sounds more like an amp issue. If all other devices are working properly and theres just no audio, or audio adjustments right? Then sounds like your amp is not turning on or smthing like that ...thats my guess

Thanks for the reply.

Would a dead amp also kill the associated audio controls? ie changing modes/stations

I'll check my connections and amp, after work.

What else is wrong? Does the horn work?

Can you get the orange light over the power knob to come on? if not then your trunk mounted nav radio it most likely dead. Im in the same boat.

Nope, I can't get that light to come on. I have like 6 things near the rear nav unit. can you point out which one is the nav radio? is it the unit with the white and blue connector in the middle?

disconnect the harness for the radio(top left) and then re-connect. if the radio comes back on, u need a new radio.

I just went outside to my car and disconnected and re-connected the harness. No change. Radio is still dead. :( I noticed the radio has a 7.5A fuse..I was hoping it was blown but it was good :(

Everything points to the NAV radio tuner...I need to figure out how to get a hold of one so I can verify that's the problem. Anyone know anyone who has one for sale ? :)
